It's Super Bowl Sunday! Congratulations to the New Orleans Saints for winning Super Bowl XLIV and the NFL Championship! They beat the Indianapolis Colts by a score of 31-17. The Colts took an early 10-0 lead, but the Saints roared back with a field goal. Then near the end of the half, they had the ball inside the Colts 5 yard-line and went for it on fourth down and didn't get it. It didn't look good for their coach Sean Payton at that point, but they stopped the Colts on the next play and scored a field goal and trailed 10-6 at halftime. New Orleans surprised everyone by doing an on-sides kick to start the third quarter and they recovered it! That took a lot of guts on Sean Payton's part, because if they had not recovered it and given the Colts good field position, he would have gotten KILLED on sports talk radio for that and the 4th down play in the first half. They scored after recovering and took a 13-10 lead. Indy would score a touchdown and take the lead 17-13. New Orleans answered with a field goal and closed to 17-16. After stopping the Colts, the Saints scored, but the 2-point conversion that followed was called no good. It looked good and was reversed on a Saints challenge and they went up again by a score of 24-17. The Colts had the ball late in the 4th quarter and were driving down the field for the tying touchdown when Peyton Manning threw an interception that the Saints ran all the way back for a touchdown. At this point, the game was pretty much over. The Colts got the ball once more and turned it over on downs and then New Orleans ran out the clock. I am thrilled for the city of New Orleans as they have never won a Super Bowl since they got their NFL franchise in 1967 and they went through so much devastation with Hurricane Katrina. I am also happy for my friend Dorian who is from New Orleans.
