I still don't get it. I mean, yes the industry is huge and complex. I know the gas station owners basically just add 15 cents a gallon markup on whatever they pay for the gas

oh I know about OPEC. that doesn't figure into oil company profits from my point of view though. so what if OPEC is manipulating supply. Oil companies are still making profits hand over fist. they seem like related but not tightly connected issues. the key word is *profit*. profit profit profit. that *profit* isn't going to OPEC.
