I'm tired, so I'll talk about politics and spew a bunch of unsupportable crap. haha!!!! I know you love it. ;)

republicans tell us democrats the "tax and spend" party. it's becomes part of the democratic negative branding. it's a simple and clear message and makes simple people vote republican.

let's get the word out! republicans "borrow and spend". Government spending hit a record high in March, under republican leadership. Where is this money coming from? in part it's coming out of tax payers pockets in the form of reduced government services. they Tax you less, but also "tax" you more in the form of providing fewer services. It's possible for them to make more money this way. The money still comes from the tax payers though. When up-front standard taxes are levied, it hurts because we have to hand over more of our pay check... but the rich generally have to hand over a lot more than the poor do. perhaps they think that's unfair. When fewer/less up-front taxes are levied we get to keep more of our pay checks, but end up having to pay more for health care and to feed our children and to go to National Parks ... a little more for everything. In the *long* run, the roughly same amount of money is collected. The only thing that changes is who the money is being collected from and in what form. shortfalls are stemmed by doing foolish things such as selling publicly owned land.

The amount of money collected from the people isn't paying for the record spending though. (record spending comes from hurricane relief and war spending.) where's that money coming from? The US Mint. it's called "deficit". How will we take care of it? We'll vote in someone willing to raise taxes.

So... how might it all work? haha. Democrats get into office and raise money by raising taxes while also helping poor people, fixing roads and making things work well. Then, Republicans get into office, put a stop to all the good things Democrats where doing while also spending all the money the Democrats raised. Republicans do this to make sure rich people get richer, because they think rich people "deserve" to keep the money they have and make.

But... are the Democrats complicit in this scheme? I mean... after all... they raise the money to begin with. Then they get voted out and the Republican give all that money that was raised to the rich. I smell a conspiracy!!!!! ;)

and when I say "they give all the money raised to the rich" I don't mean they just write a check. no. they use the money that was raised by the Democrats to lower taxes, which they do disproportionately for the rich... while cutting essential services that benefit the poor. money sort of sloshes back and forth quite a bit, but it's like a huge pipe full of slow moving money. The money flows in one direction. from the poor, to the rich.

anyone who has ever put together a successful business, I think, can tell you that all a business really is is a big "lever" that can be used to pry money out of the economy. know what I mean? a business is a tool for making money. you plug that business into an economy and use it to squeeze a little of the money floating around out there into your pocket.

there are all kinds of levers though. taxes, war, subsidies, crime... all kinds of levers. the people who hold all the *real* power know how to operate many of those levers in concert in order to push lots and lots of money in a broad and general direction... and a lot of it sloshes over into their own fat pockets on the way to where it's going. ya know? think about things like NAFTA. that's one hell of a lever. If you're the one who gets money moving in a way it hasn't moved before (like NAFTA did/does), then you position yourself and/or your friends to let a small percentage of it to fall into your lap as it flows on by.
