Jody Claman is broke and has no man!

The reality of divorce court sunk in for a star of the Real Housewives of Vancouver in a B.C. Supreme Court room on Friday, with a judge agreeing with her ex’s lawyer that she must pay him $600,000 by mid-January.

“I can’t get that kind of money by then,” said Jody Claman outside court. “All my properties have been mortgaged and I have bad credit.”

Judge Miriam Gropper denied Claman’s request for an extension because the lawyer for her ex-husband, mining executive Aran Friedlander, argued the order to pay was first made in November and that she’s had time to raise the money.

Friedlander can sell the three family properties if she doesn’t pay the amount by Jan. 15, Gropper ruled.

The tone of the proceedings turned testy after Claman’s lawyer Suzan El-Khatib requested until Jan. 31 to pay, because Claman had called her two bankers on the break but neither was available because of the holidays.

“I’m not sure who she called during the break,” Friedlander’s lawyer, Karen Thompson, told the court. “But she had time to threaten my client and he wants that on the record.”

The judge ruled in favour of Friedlander after a divorce trial held throughout the year. The divorce was finalized on Oct. 10.

During the trial, Gropper ruled that she preferred Friedlander’s evidence over Claman’s because she found Claman was inconsistent and lacked credibility.

Friedlander, the chief executive officer of DuSolo Fertilizers, is planning to request the court order Claman to pay his legal costs, which Claman said were more than $300,000.

She said her fees were around $700,000.

Claman, who runs her own store that's teetering on the precipice of bakruptcy, said outside court she plans to appeal the divorce ruling.
