Fic Commentary #1 for six!
Here ya go! An excerpt from Defenders of the Earth:
Oi!” the Doctor protested good-naturedly. “I am not creepy. And you’re lovely when you drool.”
James, on the other hand, started guffawing. “You and him? That even allowed at HQ?”
“Are you dense, James? How did you not notice them hanging all over each other at dinner?” George asked, raising his eyebrows.
“Don’t be a hater, Gee,” he replied, smoothing his hands through his dark, close-cropped hair and decidedly not answering the question.
“She was his assistant before,” Jake offered.
“Do you mind?” Rose glared at him. “I am sitting right here.”
Jake ignored her. “She’s the boss’s daughter, too. So long as there’s no ugly break-up…”
“There won’t be,” the Doctor cut in vehemently, wrapping his arm around Rose’s shoulders and pulling her tightly into his side. They exchanged small smiles.
“Aw, see, that’s nice. That’s love, right there,” James observed, resting his chin in his palm. “Still, shorty, I gotta be the one to tell you…you’re way out of his league.”
“Oi!”
“Don’t we all know it,” Mickey interjected, smirking at the Doctor.
Okay, again, clearly the Doctor and Rose's love life is the top priority of everyone's conversation. I mean, it is a fantastic story. Personally, I find myself talking about it about three...(coughcoughTHOUSANDcoughcough) times a day :-)
So, I love Agents George and James. I tried to model James a bit after Will Smith's character from Men In Black. Actually, who am I kidding...I pretty much modeled him after Will Smith. He's also a little bit of Turk from Scrubs, very tough and proud but a big fluffy, silly marshmallow underneath. I can picture him cajoling George into office pranks...and when they inevitably backfire, George is lamenting and James is like "Man, shut your blubbering mouth and help me figure out how NOT to get caught next time!"
I think these two need a sitcom...
