Listen up Obamacrats.
Look, I've stood by and skimmed over allll of your posts about how much you just lurve Obama and how he was *so different* from that *awful, bitch* Hillary. I've skimmed over your posts defending his movement toward the center so as to be more electable. I've watched as you all still have faith in him even as he refused to get on board with the anti-telcom stuff, the "I'm personally against abortion but would support it" stuff and while he's made several overt attempts to curry favor with "the religious vote." You all are still not disillusioned - he still looks bright and shiny to you.
But this is it for me.
This is the last straw.
Bob Casey will be speaking to the DNC on the 88th anniversary of women's suffrage. Hillary will not be keynoting. He will likely not be picking a female vice presidential candidate. The "business as usual here" makes me want to vomit in my mouth a little bit only because of all of the Change! Hope! New! propoganda. It's bullshit. It's business as usual. Yes, Obama is better than McCain but c'mon how LOW is that fucking bar? What would it take to be *worse* than McCain? "Better than McCain" is *not* an achievement.
I know Obama is not grand Czar of the DNC but as a potential future leader, I find it disappointing that he hasn't stepped up to change anything. That he doesn't see anything wrong in what is going on. That he is making no effort to include women, in a significant way, in his candidacy. Hell, he isn't even including other POC, in a significant way, in his candidacy.
His running mate will likely be a white, male, Liberalican and I find his lack of faith in the American people disappointing. Maybe he's worried about a "too much change" ticket but, this country has backed that sort of a ticket before. I know in many regards the Democratic primaries were played as Women VS. POC - choose only ONE in a zero-sum game and that -- that is also bullshit.
I am tired of seeing Obama buttons and stickers on the local hipsters (and this includes some of my co-workers) and I am tired of the ever-present DNC canvassers out on the streets near my office asking me, "do you have a minute for Obama?" No. I don't. I will vote for him and consider yourselves lucky that you're getting that.
The question Obamacrats are going to ask me: "Oh, so you think Hillary would have been better? Would have stayed truer to her campaign messages?"
Yes. Yes, I fucking do.
Thanks
annaclaire for posting the link to the Casey article in your LJ.
