The Unexpected

Jen tucked Jaime into the crib in the nursery and left the baby monitor nearby before closing the door.  Making her way down the hall, she can feel her pulse pick up as she runs through the conversation in her head.  In the bedroom she paces back and forth, wondering how and why and WHAT THE FUCK.  What's the saying about even the best laid plans

Jethro finally got Daniel settled into his bed and asleep before finally making his way out and into the hallway. He sighed and shook his head before heading to their bedroom running his hand down his face. He saw Jen pacing and looked at her curiously.

When she sees him come in, she stops. "Close the door," she says, "You and I have to have a talk and I don't want little ears to hear it."

He looked a little surprised as he closed the door. She sounded pissed but honestly he couldn't think of anything that he'd done to make her that way.

"So..." she starts, crossing her arms, "you remember that night, about a week and a half ago...?" She stands in the middle of the room, watching him. He looks afraid.

He nodded of course he did that had been a great night considering how long it had been since they'd had sex.

She takes a breath and tries to organize her thoughts, but they're all flowing at once. Not being able to decide what snarky thing to say next, Jen decides to just be straight with it. "I'm pregnant," she says, almost glaring at him. Her tone is more disgusted and acidic than she wanted.

Jethro opened and closed his mouth. He honestly had no idea what to say to that. They were already trying to balance their family and her career and having two little babies under a year old was not going to make that easy.

She just looks at him, waiting for him to say something, but her patience is thin and she gets sick of waiting. "This is the last thing I wanted, Jethro."

"I know Jen. I really don't know what to say. I know this isn't what you wanted or what we had planned,"he shook his head.

[on_jennys_terms]

"I want to blame you and be angry, but I can't. At least, I can't blame you without partly blaming myself. But I sure as hell am angry," she says.

"I don't blame you for being angry,"he shook his head. Really he didn't her body wasn't even totally bounced back from Jaime and she was already pregnant again from the one time they'd been able to be together.

She takes a breath and doesn't really acknowledge what he said. "I don't have the time or the energy to do this now. I had thought next month, maybe. But God, not now."

He just stayed quiet letting her rant all she wanted.

She walks away a few steps and then turns back to him. "Feel free to jump in anytime now."

"How did you find out? I mean did you see a doctor or just take a home test?"

[on_jennys_terms]

"I had my six week check-up this afternoon. My OB figured it out during the exam and then it showed up in the blood work. I'm healthy, by the way."
