He's currently taking the smart route and running through everyone's backyards and frontyards (staying close to houses is actually way safer than running on a sidewalk, y'know)! [It's quite a few hours later, and many obvious close calls, m'lady! But your work's paid off--you'll find Woody sitting at the very edge of town. Believe it or not, the poor guy has already had to run across Mayfield twice after reappearing on the other side of it. Suffice to say, a few drones saw him but merely mistook him as a pretty cool toy.

So yep, he'll be sitting there with his arms wrapped around his knees and his head bowed sadly, right in the middle of the road nobody seems to go down. He's just realized he's stuck there, just like they said.]

[Comes quietly up. She's seen odder things]

[You get a sigh and a sinking of shoulders, but he doesn't turn to look at you. He's pretty much fine with the fact that you're talking to him; heck, you knew he was alive since Sealand's room.]

... How am I ever gonna get home to Andy now?

When we figure out how to leave this place. And we are going to find a way home.

But look at this! You can't even walk out of town without just looping back! How's anybody ever gonna' figure this contraption out? If it is a contraption to even begin with.

Of course not. And it's hard and painful and some of us have been here for a long time.

But the only alternative is giving up and I'm not about to do that.

[She sits next to him, looking down the street]

There are lots of us here. Trying to find a way out of this place. Eventually we will.

[He's quiet for a moment, thinking with that little plastic head of his. And a sigh.]

Eventually...? If we wait too long, I'll miss all of Andy's best years... Then we definitely have to try our best to get home.

Actually some people have been randomly returned home and then returned here.

They say they arrive back the moment they left.

I think so. All the stories I've heard say that they didn't miss any time at all when they returned.

Then... If I can, I'll try to get out of this place, too. I guess the toy code is sort of on pause in this place...

Toy code? Is that why you were pretending to be a toy?

That's right, ma'am--toys in my world are alive, but they don't speak to humans, or move in front of them. Our main purpose is to be toys for a child.

[Obviously, there's no sorrow or malice to this, considering he loves being a toy.]

My world has houses like these, but I think it's in the future. I'm from the 1990's...
