The thing that has made American so great in the past is how we avoid being hypocrites. In WWII, we fought for democracy and humanity. And while the Germans were treating American POWs like shit and slaughtering Jews as well as others, Americans were treating German POWs like gods. They were given better rations than the soldiers, they were educated (they learned English but it wasn't a "pro-American" education), and we showed the world that we practice what we preach. But then Vietnam happened and there was talk of torturing prisoners. All you have to do is see some Vietnam movies to understand this. The thing is though that now, with all this Iraqi abuse, we cannot blame the government. This is purely a soldier thing, and it is only a few soldiers. The Iraqis don't deserve this. They deserve to be treated as human beings, of course. That goes without saying. But the main point I am trying to make is that the government cannot be blamed. We are in an unpopular war right now, as we were in Vietnam. That's when all the bad stuff comes out. So if you want to blame the government, blame them for entering the war, but don't blame them for the abuse. And about Israel, they are not infallible, but at least they are not butchering their people left and right like they do in North Korea, Sudan, and many other third world countries. The world unions are fucked up right now. The UN is shit. Their human rights comittee includes Sudan, a country notorious for having non Muslims slaughtered. And then Isreal gets blamed by the UN for killing a Hamas leader. I don't know about you. But that's a righteous act. Israel is a righteous nation, as is the United States (our intentions are just). We need more countries like Israel, especially in the UN to fix this shit up around the world. And the rant is over.
