Misa sighed. Another boring day. The blonde slumped on her stool near the counter. Once she got her degrees she could finally stop working here. It was convienent, like having her own private library, but it was probably one of the most boring jobs on Earth. Her co-workers called in sick and she was left managing the whole place. Not that it was going to be an overwhelming task. It was usually pretty empty anyway...

Matsuda came into the store, he looked overly happy. He didn't have his sad demeanor for a change. It was interesting to say the least. He looked around the bookstore looking for that blonde worker. "Miss Misa?" He shouted a bit loudly but not so loud to disturb anyone else that might have been in the bookstore.

The blonde looked up immediately as she heard the chime of the door opening.

"Yes...?" she responded from her position at the counter as she heard her name being called. Misa saw that Matsuda guy who had visited a few days before, now looking as radiant as ever.

Matsuda smiled at her while waving slightly to her. "How are you?" He asked as he slowly walked over towards her.

"I'm...good..." Misa blinked. What a big change. "You seem to be quite happy today." She smiled back, glad to see he had gotten over his little episode of depression from last time.

"That's good." Matsuda smiled as he leaned against the counter. "I know that I am, I had a good couple of interesting days really." He stretches as he looks around the little bookstore. "How is college?"

"It's been like it's always been. Boring professors, interesting topic debates, relationship drama between friends, all that jazz," she laughed. "Why the sudden change in demeanor?"

Matsuda blinked while looking at her, smiling brightly. "I had a good couple of days. Spending it with someone that I liked to be around and will still be around him." He chuckled as he shrugged a bit. "Seems to me you might need a break."

Misa chuckled.

"Haha, life won't give me a break right now. Once I graduate, maybe," she laughed, leaning on the counter and resting her chin on her hands. "What brings you by my humble little hell hole?"

Matsuda chuckled as he stretched a bit. "Well... I figured you might want a chat. Or something at least." He smiled as he shifted a bit on the counter. "I think.. you needed the company."

"Sharp," she said, laughing a bit. "It's been really...boring. You came on a good day for a conversation." Another laugh. "All my co-workers ditched me to play hookie and now I'm stuck with Pighead who's in the office. But then again I don't have to deal with little-miss-life-is-so-perfect lecturing me on being a love, so I guess it's alright."

"That's always a good thing really." Matsuda chuckled as he smiled at her. "If you think about it, you could always make things more interesting." He replied as he picked up one of the closet magazines. He flipped through it a bit before closing it.

"If I even thought of trying to entertain myself and 'make things interesting' around here my boss would probably have my head," she laughed. "It's always 'go stock shelves! Go sit at the counter and do nothing while I sit in my office and have phone sex!'"

Matsuda chuckled as he looked at her. "Hmm... well what do you do for lunch? Since you can't really leave the shop to go get food." He replied as he watched her, her last comment had been extremely funny.

Misa sighed, smiling.

"Well, I do get lunch break and stuff...mine's starting in," she paused, looking at her watch, "now, apparently." The blonde laughed, looking up at the older man. "Care to join me?"

Matsuda chuckled as he heard that her lunch was starting now. "Sure, I wouldn't mind joining you. It'll give me something to do." He replied as he got off the counter, this little encounter might turn out to be rather fun.

Misa smiled, getting off the stool from behind the counter and taking off the bookstore-labeled work apron, setting it on the counter.

"Is a little ordinary cafe ok with you?" she asked, chuckling a bit.

"That's fine with me. Since I bet you don't want to venture too far from bookstore." Matsuda replied as he walked towards the exit of the little store. He opened the door for Misa.

"How gentlemanly of you," she laughed, getting her bag and quickly flipping the sign on the door from "store-hours" to "be-back-in-an-hour" before walking out. She paused, waiting for Matsuda.

Matsuda walked out while closing the door. He chuckled as he shook his head. "So, I take it you really don't like your boss all that much." He smiled as he started to walk towards the small little cafe that was just around the corner.

"Hate 'im," she replied bluntly, chuckling a bit. She locked the door with her set of keys after he had closed it, then walked with him to the cafe. "I'm surprised you really had time to come by, though. I thought most people would be working around this time. Unless your boss gives you weird lunch break times, too."

"I've been ditching work actually." Matsuda chuckled as he looked over at her. "To do things that I haven't had time to really enjoy. That and I can't really face some of my co-workers." He replied as he shrugged a bit walking towards the cafe.

"Nn, I see," she said, smiling as they arrived at the cafe. Putting together what Matsuda had just said and how he'd been acting last time she saw him, she could guess he got into some strange situation with someone at work that caused problems. Or at least, it was just a guess.

Matsuda opened the door for her again as he smiled. "Go find a booth if you can. Usually that's a better place to talk." He replied as he chuckled a bit. Once she was inside he followed in while looking around the small little cafe.

She let them both to a small booth near the window and sat down, resting her elbows on the table. The waitress came over, placing two menus down on the table and Misa nodded as a small gesture of thanks.

"You come here often?" she asked Matsuda.

Matsuda smiled as he sat across from her. He picked up a menu while nodding to the waitress in thanks. "I do come here often. So I kind of know what I want." He replied as he took a couple glances from the menu.

"Ah, well," she said, picking up the menu and looking through it, "I've only come here a few times. My co-worker usually drags me out to this place a couple blocks down. I have no idea why she just refuses to come here." Misa sighed, noting the few items she wanted to order off the menu, placing it back on the table.

Matsuda tilted his head in thought as he blinked a few times. "She might have had a bad break up with someone here? I don't know why but that is kind of odd." He replied with a small smile as he picked a few items from the menu he wanted to order.

"Hm, maybe," she said softly, looking out the window. Then the waitress came along and Misa turned her attention back to reality, ordering her food. The waitress nodded, writing the items down and then awaited Matsuda's order. Meanwhile, Misa's thoughts began to drift again. Those types of romantic relationships, at least to Misa, seemed to be more trouble than they were worth.

Matsuda smiled up at the waitress as he ordered his items that he wanted from the menu. Once the waitress went away he looked over at Misa. "Hey, don't worry about it. I'm sure it's probably not all that bad."

Her eyes flickered back to Matsuda.

"But if that is true, I'm going to have to eat Italian food for lunch every day that my co-worker is at work, which is almost all the time. I think I should be worried," she smirked a bit.

"True, you should be worried if that's the case. Since eating Italian food isn't exactly healthy." Matsuda chuckled as he sat back in the booth while picking up the glass of water and sipping from it.

Misa laughed. Small talk, small talk, that's all it was. She really was curious of what happened to Matsuda, but the question was...would it be worth it? It was never good to stick one's nose into something they really didn't have anything to do with, but...

"So, I'm wondering...who's the person who helped you on your feet? Since, you didn't patch things up with the other person," Misa asked tentatively.

Matsuda flushed slightly at that question as he shifted a bit. He took another sip of the water before putting it down gently. "Well... ironically enough... his completely the opposite of me. My twin, my double has been picking me back up to my feet."

Misa blinked.

"Your double?" She paused for a moment, then smiled. "Opposites do attract, I guess," she teased.

Matsuda smiled slightly as he looked down at the table shifting a bit in his seat. "Well... that is true."

"So, since he's your double, you're technically in love with yourself?" she asked, highly amused.

Matsuda blushed as he shifted in his seat. This wasn't any good he smiled a bit as he reached out to sip from his glass. "I guess you could say that."

Misa practically grinned as she saw him blush. It was so cute, in a lovesick puppy-dog sort of way. The waitress brought over their drinks and Misa nodded in thanks.

Matsuda nodded as he went for his drink, sipping it more from it. He didn't know what to say after this it was weird, did you really love his twin? He looked down at the table as he sipped more at the drink.

"Well, I'm glad you were able to get over it all," she smiled, taking a sip from her mug. "Speaking of doubles, I met this guy named Light and his double Raito. It's strange because they really didn't seem that opposite."

Matsuda tensed slightly at hearing Light's name while looking at him. "They are totally opposite... Yagami-kun is a complete asshole while Raito-kun is sweet and rather friendly."

"Hn?" Misa gave him a look. "Light-kun didn't seem like that. He was actually pretty friendly when I met him. The same with Raito-kun..." She looked down. What would make Matsuda say such a thing? Unless...

Matsuda looked up at her while shaking his head. "No, Yagami-kun will only use someone for sex because he's an asshole. Raito-kun is probably much better than him because he probably wouldn't think about using someone for sex."

Misa's eyes widened. After putting two and two together...

"So...you and Raito-kun..." she began, hesistantly.

Matsuda shook his head while looking at him. "Yagami-kun is Light-kun. Raito-kun didn't do anything."

"Light-kun..." Misa frowned, correcting herself. At first he really didn't seem like the type to do anyone harm. But using someone like that? She mused back on their meeting. There was definitely more to him than met the eye, but to think...

The waitress came by, placing the food items on the table. Misa nodded silently in thanks.

Matsuda sighed as he started to eat the food slowly. He knew it was hard to not bite at Light Yagami but he deserved every little bite by him. He didn't like him one bit and maybe.. just maybe he might forgive the asshole.

Misa ate her food silently. This was troubling. Well, at least it's not Raito-kun, she thought. If Raito had been the one with that kind of complex, who knew what kind of trouble he could cause with the Love Note?

He sighed as he continued to eat the food, this was a bit troubling but at the same time he didn't really want to talk about it anymore. He picked up his drink and took a sip out of it before placing it back down on the table. Matsuda looked at her. "Let's not go onto that subject.."

Misa nodded, taking another sip from her mug. I guess I shouldn't be that surprised, she mused. If each pair of clones really were opposites, that would mean that Light is the opposite of Raito, even if they do share some qualities. The blonde's thoughts began to drift.

Matsuda took another sip of his drink before looking at her. She seemed deep in thought about something. He tilted his head slightly to the side while leaning slightly. "Penny for you thoughts?" He asked as he quickly took out a penny.

Misa looked at him, eyeing the penny. A small half-hearted smile graced her face. She was disappointed at hearing what Light had done. In the back of her mind she really wanted to question whether Matsuda was telling the truth...Misa sighed.

"My thoughts are barely worth a penny right now," she laughed, lying perfectly.

"Are you sure about that? I'm sure they are worth something." Matsuda replied as he smiled at her. He put the penny down next to her plate before stealing a piece of her food before going back to eat his own.

"I doubt you'd really want to hear them since--Hey!" she shouted softly as he stole a piece of her food. Misa laughed, using her fork to quickly steal a piece of his food for "revenge."

Matsuda stabbed at her fork as she went after one of his pieces of food. "Now, now I don't think so.." He moved the fork to the side while picking up an egg roll and handing it to her. "This is better."

Misa paused, taking the egg roll from him, a bit surprised.

"You're so...weird," she commented, laughing and taking a small bite out of the roll. The blonde mentally slapped herself for not finding a better adjective, but all of the things going on lately had her head spinning.

Matsuda chuckled as he sat back and started to finish his food. Once done he went to finish to drink. "I maybe weird but at least you got food from me."

Misa grinned, going back to finish her food. It turned out to be a pretty entertaining afternoon afterall. After finishing up her food and drink she waved over the waitress, asking for the check.

He smiled as he waited for the checks. He stretched as he looked around the cafe. Matsuda sighed as he looked over at her. "I guess after we leave here we will split our ways."

"Yeah," Misa said, a little disappointed. She'd have to return back to her boring workplace and with some discomforting thoughts. The waitress approached with the check and placed it onto the table.

Matsuda grabbed the check quickly while dishing out the cash for the meals. "Mine!" He got up quickly to go pay for it before Misa made any objections. He chuckled as he got to the counter with the money out smiling at the girl that was at the counter.

"A-ah..." Misa sat there a little dumbfounded for a few moments before moving. She slipped out of the booth, grabbing her bag and walking over to Matsuda. "You know, you really didn't have to...but thanks," the blonde said, gripping her bag strap and adjusting it on her shoulder, smiling.

Matsuda smiled while taking the change. He walked back over to the booth and left it on the table before walking back towards Misa. "But you know, you might have needed it a lot." He moved towards the exit of the building while opening the door.

"Haha, yeah," she practically grinned nodding as she walked out of the door. A quick glance at her watch told her it would be time to head back to her post at the oh-so-wonderful bookstore where she worked. "Well, I must be off, thanks!" And with that she left, waving to Matsuda before trotting down the street. "Come by my bookstore again sometime!"

Matsuda smiled while waving back. "I shall!! See you Miss Misa!" He shouted before walking down the opposite side of the street he smiled slightly as he put his hands into his pockets. Today had been a good day.
