For those of you who have been following the One Laptop Per Child project and secretly (or not so secretly) wanting one for yourself - this may be of interest.

so tempted in fact I got one, and when you add in the free year of T-Mobile HotSpot access you could take it and set up shop in a Starbucks or wherever

Oh excellent, I'm so glad someone I know got one. I am still dithering, I think I'll be making a contribution to them either way, I've just got to decide how much I do or don't want a laptop for myself.
