Ooops, forgot to post this yesterday...
Maudallan, I now fully understand your gaucho love. I have been wearing
these all day and I am in love, it is all I can do to stop myself from buying 5 more pair right now! They are my new official traveling pant.
Today was my first
CSA pickup. I'll post pics tomorrow for those interested. I got some gorgeous looking green leaf lettuce, a spring lettuce mix, a bunch of mint, scallions, swiss chard, rhubarb, radishes and asparagus. Basically half a bushel of veggies.
I've never made anything with Swiss chard or rhubarb before, so if any one you have particularly awesome recipes, send them my way. This will be the challenging portion of the CSA - making sure I use and eat unfamiliar veggies. But I'm also excited about the challenge as I think it will get me to stretch my culinary horizons.
Quick catchup:
I'm back from my work trip to California. I'm really excited that my evening schedule opened up so I was able to have really nice visits with Earl, Lynette and Charlotte (so tiny and cute!) as well as Ashton, Monica and JT (adorable as ever). I'm hoping next time I get sent out I'll be able to drag Fred along and stay and extra weekend so I can see everyone I missed and get some time to visit my favorite places out there. It was a good trip, I'm glad how my work travel serves to reaffirm how much I like working for Sun. The only downside is that I was there in all day meetings so I'm coming back to a stack of email as if I had taken last week off, which stinks, but ah well. It'll be just another busy week.
I spent the weekend before my CA trip celebrating mother's day in Berkeley Springs West Virginia with my sisters and my Mom. It was a really lovely and relaxing trip (we all got fantastic massages from Frankie Tan who'd studied Thai massage in a Buddhist monastery). It's really rare for all of the women in my family to go away together like that, but it was a lot of fun and I have a feeling we might make it an annual tradition. I also found a place up there with very reasonable prices on pasture raised chicken - I may take a trip up there with a cooler and stock my freezer. I'm sure there is more I wanted to write about, but it has all fallen out of my head, so I'll stop here.
