Oh god. I've never written Azumanga fic before, so here we go. ____________________________
It was a warm day, which wasn't at this time of year. It did make things easier for her, which was, for once, a nice change.
Being tall and quiet has its advantages, Sakaki thought, leaning back in her chair and sipping a chocolate martini with a somewhat bored ease. Although it's hard to be overlooked, it's certainly easy to pretend to be ignorant. No one would ever suspect the dull-looking woman in the background with a cat-backpack and the hair hanging in her face.
Sakaki took in a deep breath of the salty air, closing her eyes, her other hand resting idly on Maya's soft fur. It also didn't hurt that she had been close friends with one of the most promising and youngest members of the Interpol. No matter how much older they became, and especially no matter how grisly her results ended up, Sakaki always ended up with an alibi, thanks to Chiyo.
It said something about past loyalties.
Sipping her martini, Sakaki's thoughts lingered tot he next job on the roster. Something about infiltrating a high-end business that sold gaudy and expensive jewelry. It really wasn't her kind of job, since there wasn't anything cute involved, but the pay was good, and she needed the money. It also promised to be interesting, as the owner of the place was rumoured to be selling knock-offs as rarities.
Maya purred beside her, curled up against her hip. The breeze was warm, the air moist, and the martini dry. It was going to be a good day.
You're reading way too much into it. The hair thing I got from that one episode, which had Chiyo coming to class with ribbons, and Sakaki pictured himself in them and was sad because it wasn't as cute.
