Actor Lee Si-young climbs Mardi Himal in Himalayas with 6-year-old son
Actor Lee Si-young recently trekked the 4,000-meter plus Mardi Himal in the Himalayas with her 6-year-old son, sharing photos and videos of the journey on social media on Nov. 8.
The photos show Lee carrying her son on her back as she climbs a snowy mountain. A short video also shows them enjoying a snowball fight in the Himalayas.
"We didn’t make it in time for the sunrise as planned. We started getting ready at 3 a.m. and tried to arrive early, but couldn’t move fast enough. Still, we reached the 4,200-meter Mardi Himal viewpoint without anyone falling behind," Lee wrote.
She added, "The weather was rough throughout the trek, with rain and snow towards the end, but on the last day, it felt like a blessing to be greeted with clear skies. I’m so grateful and happy for every moment spent in the Himalayas."
On Nov. 10, Lee updated fans that they had safely completed their trek. "We spent a happy two days at a hotel in Pokhara, waiting for our flight back to Korea. After being in the mountains, everything feels precious - warm showers, delicious food, a comfy bed. Most of all, my son Jung-yoon was so happy, playing, resting and even trying paragliding."
Lee expressed relief that her son’s "neat freak" tendencies had eased, noting that he adapted well to the outdoor environment and didn’t mind getting messy during their trip.
Lee married a businessman in 2017, and they have one son. In 2023, she also hiked Mount Halla with her son on her back.
