Flashback Friday

Nov 01, 2024 12:53

It’s Friday! Every week I go through the charts for this day in the past and post the top three songs. Then I pick out two more from the top ten as honorable mentions. This week, we are going back to the 1st week in November, 2012.

#3 Ailee “I Will Show You”
This was the single from her debut EP. It was the follow up to her debut single earlier in the year, and was also a hit. Both the songs’ successes would help her win Best New Artist at 5 different year end award shows. I wasn’t a fan of the song lol. Here’s a stage from Music Bank.

#2 Miss A “I Don’t Need A Man”
I loved this shit lol. It was such a fun era. This was the lead single from the group’s EP "Independent Women Part III”. Here’s a stage from Music Bank.

#1 K.Will “Please Don’t…”
I don’t know about you, but this is probably the first K.Will song I will mention if asked. Because the music video is just so damn iconic. Like, really REALLY iconic. It is one of his biggest selling songs, and would win Best R&B song at the Melon Music Awards at the end of the year.

Honorable Mentions

#5 Block B “Nillili Mambo”
I do not remember this era at all. I think it’s the first time I’ve ever seen the MV. I think I’m in the minority because it is one of their biggest selling songs lol. This was the lead single from the group’s 1st (and only) full Korean album.

#9 G-Dragon “Crayon”
This was one of the singles from this 1st EP, “One Of A Kind”. A strong album imho (um, “Missing You” with Jaurim’s Yoon Ah?!?), and this was the album’s best selling single. SPIN magazine would name it the best K-pop single of the year, ahead of PSY’s “Gangnam Style”.
