i had a discussion with my friends the other day. basically me and 2 other girls who read yaoi/BL just can't get into korean manhwa/webtoon at all. the drawings look all the same, the tops are disproportionately big, the characters are cliches (CEO, rich people, etc), they're just not interesting to us. my friend who reads het stories LOVES manhwa, especially because it's colored and she accepts that the characters are cliches. so me and my yaoi reader friends always straight up filtering the scanlation with "source: japanese" and my one friend uses "source: korean" lol

I don‘t read graphic novels anymore, but in all kind of languages there are gems (depends on your taste ofc), especially if you find older books.
Also yaoi is such an outdated word and inaccurate at its best.

well the place where i read manga still use the word Yaoi and i've been using it for 20 years so.
