These poor girls, they are so brave for doing this and I hope it works out for them in the end. Haerin saying how uncomfortable she felt when their pre-debut footage was leaked and how she is terrified of what else they might release without their consent is heartbreaking, especially after the big fat NOTHING they've been doing to protect their female artists from deepfakes. Those feelings of dread and suspicion are going to stick with her for the rest of her life, they have done nothing to deserve this. This sort of thing is hard enough to deal with as an adult with people your own age, it must be hell being teenager and feeling like you can't trust any of the adults around you who are literally being paid to supposedly make sure you're safe and taken care of.

i worry for them. clearly hybe doesn't care to butter them up even though they bring them money. now that they have boldly went against them, i worry that hybe will bury them and let them rot until the end of their contract.

If most of the stuff they've been expressing concern about are true hybe was planning on letting them disappear ("18 month break to find a grammy winning producer") anyway, so they probably felt they had nothing to lose. The main concern is that they will get sued or lose the rights to their name, music, designs etc but I think it's good that they spoke up now that they still have an audience and a platform before they get blackmailed into staying silent, even if they lose everything it's important that anyone thinking of training with/working for this company will think twice after seeing their second most lucrative group being treated like this. From what they're saying the direction hybe is planning to take them in with the new puppet ador was not something they'd be interested in pursuing regardless so props to them for taking charge.

oh that's the first time i hear about the hiatus. if that's true then they really have nothing to lose.

(in all seriousness as a huge newjeans fan i am devastated over how this has progressed. as much as i genuinely believe MHJ is creative and brings fresh concepts to the table, the way she has influenced and essentially groomed these poor girls is despicable and i can only hope that the girls will be ok. i can see MHJ coming out of this fine. but this has only further illustrated how disposable idols are in this industry, even those at the top like newjeans, and it makes me worry for their well-beings. good on them for speaking up for themselves even if it's exactly what i expected to hear from them. i hope they will be ok soon.)
