Haechan shares thoughts for first time after Taeil's departure
Haechan, a member of the group NCT, has expressed his affection for his fellow members and reaffirmed his commitment to the group. Haechan shared a long message through a fan communication platform on Sunday, saying, "I have a lot on my mind, so I wanted to share some of my thoughts with you."
Reflecting on the group's 8th anniversary this year, Haechan said, "I started this journey with a love for singing and dancing, but I've realized there are more important things to consider beyond just music and dance. I'm still learning, but the biggest lesson is not to be deluded into thinking I've achieved everything on my own. If it weren't for the members who were with me, would I have been able to enjoy this as much? Would I even have had the opportunity to enjoy it?"
This marks the first time Haechan has opened up about his feelings following Taeil's departure from the group last week due to allegations of a sexual offense.
Haechan said that he sometimes feels amazed to see the members he loves and depends on being appreciated and admired by so many people.
"To some, what we have achieved may seem insignificant, but we have worked incredibly hard. Over the past eight years, we've released more albums than I can count, working tirelessly. Handling schedules for two teams has been physically and mentally exhausting most of the time," he said. "Despite this, I am deeply thankful to my members who never gave up and always stood by me. I cannot afford to do things half-heartedly."
Explaining why he chose to share his thoughts, Haechan said, "Because of my members, I will keep running forward with all my heart, just as I have done until now. 'NCT' means everything to me. It’s a name I must protect with my members."
He concluded with a promise to fans, "I will continue to shine and work hard. So, please keep watching over us, support us, and love us. We will always give our best for great music and performances." He ended his post by saying, "I'm always sorry, grateful, and I love you."
Taeil was expelled from the group after news broke late last month that he was accused of a sexual offense.
SM Entertainment announced Taeil's expulsion, Aug. 28, saying, "We recently confirmed that Taeil was accused in a criminal case related to a sexual offense. Upon verifying the facts, we recognized the severity of the matter and decided, after discussion with Taeil, that he would leave the team."
