More than a decade after their meteoric rise on the famous audition show "K-pop Star," sibling duo AKMU celebrated their 10th debut anniversary with a two-day concert last weekend.

The talented siblings, Lee Chan-hyuk and Lee Soo-hyun rose to fame as the winners of the second season of SBS' survival audition program "K-pop Star" in 2012. After gaining nationwide recognition through the show, the iconic homeschooled duo officially debuted as AKMU under YG Entertainment two years later.

On a lively Sunday afternoon, around 10,000 fans eagerly gathered at the KSPO Dome in Seoul's Songpa District for AKMU's 2024 10th-anniversary concert titled "10VE." The concert's title cleverly combined the number 10 and the word "love," underscoring AKMU's gratitude for their fans' support over the past decade.

Amid ecstatic cheers, AKMU opened the concert with their hit, "Last Goodbye," sustaining the fervor with powerful renditions of "BENCH," "RE-BYE," "Play Ugly," "NAKKA" and "Melted." During a rearranged version of their hit song "Dinosaur," the entire audience sang along, creating a unified and energetic atmosphere across the large concert venue.

Throughout the show, the young duo from "K-pop Star" a decade ago was nowhere to be found, with the siblings having matured into seasoned performers with steady vocals and savvy stage presence.

After a row of impressive performances, AKMU took a moment to interact with their fans.

"I was so happy after yesterday's concert that my heart was still racing when I got home. I'm sad that today is the last day, so let's enjoy it to the fullest," Chan-hyuk noted.

Following the brief greeting, the duo moved the audience with an emotional performance of the beloved ballad, "How Can I Love The Heartbreak, You're The One I Love."

The concert also added a nostalgic touch to the evening, featuring songs that date back to the audition program that shaped AKMU into the artists they are today. The live rendition of "Is It Ramen" was a testament to AKMU's growth, while a medley of "Crescendo," "The Love Of Foreigner," "On the Subway" and "Little Star" evoked nostalgia among long-time fans.

Complementing the emotional atmosphere were the duo's adorable stage costumes, with Chan-hyuk in a checkered shirt and Soo-hyun in a charming vintage dress.

The duo then whisked the audience back to the present with tracks from their third mini-album "Love Episode," freshly released on June 3. The performance of the title track "HERO" and the playful "Peace of Cake," where they indulged in cake on stage, injected a burst of fun and energy into the concert.

The concert also took an unexpected turn when singer IU appeared as a guest, receiving a warm welcome from the audience as she performed her hits, "The Meaning of You" and "Blueming."

"I attended AKMU's very first concert as a guest. It's hard to believe it's been 10 years already and I couldn't miss being part of the celebration, so here I am again. It's truly an honor and I feel like part of my family has achieved something incredible," IU said, celebrating the duo on their milestone.

AKMU brought the latter part of the concert to life with vibrant and hopeful songs, including "FREEDOM," "Green Window" and "200%." Reluctant to leave the stage, the siblings deeply moved the audience with their heartfelt singing.

Closing the concert with "Will Last Forever," the duo bid farewell to their fans on a heartfelt note.

"We can end on a high note, cherishing the joy and memories of the past years. Here's to creating more unforgettable moments together," Chan-hyuk concluded.
