Flashback Friday

Jun 14, 2024 11:45

Happy Friday! Every week I check the charts for this day in the past and share the top three songs. Then I pick out two more from the top ten as honorable mentions. This week, we are going back 10 years to the 2nd week in June, 2014. 10 freaking YEARS.

#3 Gummy “I Loved…Have No Regrets”
This was the lead single from her EP of the same name. It was her first official comeback under her new agency, after leaving YG the previous year. I only kind of remember this song. But I remember this era because I loved her hair here lol. I love this color on her, it reminds me of her 2011 hair. Like, her Japanese debut era. Loved it!

#2 San E & After School Raina “A Midsummer Night’s Sweetness”
I was OBSESSED with this song back then. Loved it so much! I wasn’t the only one, because the song would hit the top spot on every major chart. It would stay as Gaon’s #1 song for the entire month of July. Just a sweet lil summer confession song. Let’s check out a stage from M Countdown.

#1 Beast “No More”
This was the first single from the group’s EP “Good Luck”. I don’t remember this song at all, although I do remember the other single, “Good Luck”. It was a successful release, both singles and the album would reach the top spot on the charts. But this MV does look familiar to me. It's the old Instagram split screen lol.

Honorable Mentions

#4 Taeyang “Eyes Nose Lips”
It’s been 10 years now, so I feel like I can say it…this is not my favorite song on the album. At first I found it a bit boring lol. But now I can appreciate it! He sounds good, the song is nice…I get it. But it’s still not my fav. Anyway, it was a huge hit. It spent 3 weeks at the top spot, and was the 2nd best performing song of the year. It won 8 music show trophies and 7 year end awards. A few weeks ago he performed the song at Yonsei’s school festival. These kids were in elementary school when the song came out lol! They all sang along too.

#5 Davichi “Again”
Before leaving CCM, the duo announced one last release. This was a pre-release single before the EP came out. The song would peak in the top three on the charts (no surprise, it's Davichi lol). The duo would sign on to a new label a few weeks later. The music videos stars their junior CCM labelmates: F-ve Dolls Seunghee, former Produce 101 Kim Taemin, and actor Park Sangwon.
