Flashback Friday
Happy Friday! Every week I go through the charts for this day in the past and post the top three songs. Then I pick out two more from the top ten as honorable mentions. This week we are going back to the 1st week in June, 2012. I remember half of the songs this week, maybe you remember more.
#3 Baek Ji Young “Good Boy”
After releasing ballads for the past three years, she released a dance album. This was the lead single from the EP of the same name. I like it when she brings out the bops lol. This was a big hit for her, and is one of her biggest selling singles. Here’s a stage from the Beautiful Concert. The original song featured Yong Jun Hyung. On this stage she is joined by Dalmatian member Simon.
#2 G.Na “2Hot”
This was the title track of her 3rd EP of the same name. It did well, and the song would peak at #2 on the charts. This isn’t one of my favorite songs from her, but it’s cute and she looks great. I also remember this tootsie roll choreo vividly lol. It’s been awhile, so let’s check out the music video again.
#1 IU “Every End Of The Day”
This was a busy year for her, filled with her Japanese debut, tours, and variety shows. This was her only release in Korea, a single album. Because of her busy schedule, she didn’t do any promotions for the song. The music video for the song isn’t really a music video. It’s a 26 minute documentary video which features two of the three songs on the album. So let’s just check out the audio this time.
Honorable Mentions
#8 Girls’ Generation TTS “Twinkle”
This was the debut song from Girls' Generation’s first unit group. The song would peak at the top, and is the trio’s best selling song. It also won triple crowns at every major music show, with 12 trophies in total. I think this is still my fav song from the unit. Let’s check out a stage from M Countdown.
#10 Mighty Mouth feat. Soya “Bad Guy”
This was a non-album single with vocals from frequent collaborator Soya. It was the first release of a busy year for the duo because member Sangchu would enlist in the fall. We all remember what happened there *cough cough* massage parlors *cough*. Let’s see a stage from Music Core.
