Recently, NewJeans was accused of copying a Mexican group called “Jeans”. In the original allegations, NewJeans and Jeans’ clothes, concept, and album design were said to be similar, leading to criticisms.
As the situation intensified, fans of NewJeans started to leave comments on the official SNS of Jeans and its members, asking the group to give their stance.
Among those, an Instagram comment saying “Please say something about it, NewJeans are being attacked for alleged plagiarism”, have received an official response from Jeans.
Replying to the comment, Jeans simply said, “We love that the 90’s comeback and reach new generations”, implying that they simply find this to be an 90s-inspired concept instead of copying.
