Flashback Friday

Apr 19, 2024 12:13

Happy Friday! Every week I go through the charts for this day in the past and post the top three songs. Then I pick out two more from the top ten as honorable mentions. This week, we are going back 9 years to the 3rd week in April, 2015.

#3 EXID “Ah Yeah”
This was the title track of the group’s EP of the same name. It was the follow up to the group’s big breakout hit “Up & Down”. The song was successful, and it is their second best selling song. It also won a handful of music show trophies. It’s been a while so let’s check out the music video again.

#2 Miss A “Only You”
This was the group’s comeback after a year and a half. It was the lead single from the group’s EP, “Colors”. The song would debut at the top spot, and the album in the top three. This would be their last release together, but the group wouldn’t formally announce disbandment until December of 2017. Here’s a stage from M Countdown. They were so damn cute this era.

#1 JYP “Who’s Your Mama?”
This was also his first release in about two years, and it was a hit on the charts. I will always remember this era as the time he chose to release a single when Miss A were making their big comeback, and displaced them from the top spot on the charts. He could have of fucking waited. Oh, I also remember the horrified faces at his performance at MAMA at the end of the year (not the last time that's gonna happen). Anyways, here’s a live stage from Sketchbook.

Honorable Mentions

#5 EXO “Call Me Baby”
This was the lead single from the group’s 2nd full album, “Exodus”. I have vague memories of the song, but I remember the teasers lol! The pathcode ones! It was a hugely successful release, and it is one of their best selling songs. The song would win a total of 18 music show trophies. This was the last single to feature Tao. He was absent from promotions and a few months later would file his lawsuit with SM.It’s been a while so let’s check out the music video again.

#10 Block B - BASTARZ “Zero For Conduct”
Following a very busy first quarter for the whole Block B group, their first sub-unit made their debut. This was their debut song, the title track from the debut EP “Conduct Zero”. It was a good rookie year for the unit, they would get nominated for a handful of year end awards. Here’s their debut stage at M Countdown. The fanchants are LOUD lol.
