Flashback Friday

Nov 10, 2023 13:10

Happy Friday! Every week I check the charts for this day in the past and post the top three songs. Then I pick out two more from the top ten as honorable mentions. This week, we are going back to see what we were listening to in the 2nd week in November, 2015.

#3 f(x) “4 Walls”
My favorite song from the group! This was the lead single from the group’s album of the same name. This was also the first release as a 4 member group, Sulli would leave in the summer to focus on acting. The song was successful, and would peak at #2 on the charts. It would also win a handful of music show trophies and be on a bunch of international publications’ “Best Kpop” songs for the year. Here’s a stage from Music Bank.

#2 IU “Twenty-Three”
She was really busy this year. With a return to acting, an appearance on Infinite Challenge’s music festival, a tour, and a new EP. Like I said in other posts, the only thing I remembered about this era and album was the different controversies. At least two or three different ones? I don’t remember the song itself. She didn’t promote the song on broadcasts, so here’s the MV again.

#1 Zico featuring Babylon “Boys And Girls”
He was really busy with both Block B and solo activities this year. This was his second solo release for the year.I don’t remember this at all. But it was a huge solo hit for him. It would remain #1 on Gaon for a full month. And it is still his biggest selling song. The music videos feels very summer, which is interesting for a November release. Like, were those girls cold?

#9 Zion.T “No Makeup”
2015 was busy for him. And a year filled with collaborations and features. Besides his collab with Crush, there were 7 more features. Add to that an appearance on Infinite Challenge’s music festival, and this would be his big breakout year. But “No Makeup” was a solo effort, and it would peak at #1 on the charts. Here’s a live stage from a 2019 show in Canada. He looks like he was having a great time.

#10 Brown Eyed Girls “Brave New World”
This was the group’s first release after signing to Mystic Entertainment. It was one of the lead singles from their sixth full album, “Basic”. The other lead single would be the iconic “Warm Hole”. I loved this era. They looked fabulous and the song is fun. Here’s a stage with loud fans on Music Bank.
