Flashback Friday
Every week I go through the charts for this day in the past and share the top three songs. Then I pick out two more from the top ten as honorable mentions. This week we are going back 11 years to the 5th week in September, 2012. 11 YEARS WTF. I don’t know why I’m so surprised, but some weeks I’m just like “?!?”. I have random memories of this year.
#3 T-ara “Sexy Love”
This was the lead single from their EP “Mirage”, which was an album repackage of “Day by Day”. This was the group’s first comeback after that whole mess with Hwayoung. What a time to be alive. I remember something new happening every day. Anyways! This comeback did very well, and the song would peak in the top 5 on both the Korean and Japanese charts. #2 Orange Caramel “Lipstick”
Following their official Japanese debut, they would return to Korea just a week later to release their first full album. Both the song and the album would peak in the top five on the charts, and the song would stay in the top ten for over a month. Here's a stage from Music Core.
#1 Secret “Poison”
The group spent almost a full year with their debut in Japanese and Japanese activities, and this would be their Korean comeback. This was the lead single off of their EP of the same name. The comeback was a success, and it is one of their biggest selling songs. I liked this because I didn’t like their retro era lol. Here’s a stage from M Countdown.

#6 Kara “Pandora”
Ugh the perfection of the “Pandora” era. Will forever be one of most favorites! Kara spent most of 2012 in Japan (was EVERYONE in Japan in 2012?), save for their first solo concert in Seoul and this release. This Sweetune song would peak at #2 on the charts, and is one of their biggest selling songs. Here’s their performance from the Golden Disk Awards with a remix.
#9 PSY “Gangnam Style”
After the song was released in mid-July, it would spend the rest of the summer going crazy viral. Five months later it would become the first video to achieve over 1 billion views. And in between, he and the song were everywhere. The song would hit the top of the charts around the world, and win a bunch of awards both domestically and internationally.
