Flashback Friday
Happy Friday! Every week I go through the charts for this day in the past and share the top three songs. Then I pick out two more from the top ten as honorable mentions. This week we are going back to the 3rd week in September, 2009. Oh all the autotune! All of these are fun bops.
#3 Baek Ji Young featuring Taecyeon “My Ear’s Candy”
Going in a different direction from her usual ballads, this was the lead single from her “Ego” EP, and featured 2PM’s Taecyeon. She won Best Female Artist at MAMA this year. I just remember this song being everywhere. And everyone would cover it! I would think this is one of her signature songs, she still performs it today. Just switching out the guy lol. Here’s her comeback stage at Music Core, with an extended dance intro. And back when Tiffany and Yuri were the Music Core MCs!
#2 Brown Eyed Girls “Abracadabra”
It’s that time of the year! Abracadabra time! Like Baek Ji Young, this also featured a change up from their past image. “Abracadabra” was one of the singles from the group’s “Sound-G” album, and would usher in a more mature and sexy concept. It was a huge hit, and everyone would be copying the “Arrogant Dance” for months. The song would win music shows and end of year awards, and it would be one of the biggest selling songs of the year.
#1 G-Dragon “Heartbreaker”
This was the lead single of his debut album of the same name. The song would win 11 music show trophies, and be one of the biggest selling songs of the year. The album would also win AOTY at MAMA. He would follow up album promotions with his first solo concert. Here’s a live stage from BigBang’s Big Show concert a year later. All this choreo came rushing back to me lol.

#4 4Minute “Muzik”
This was the follow up to their debut, “Hot Issue”, and the lead single from their debut EP, “For Muzik”. The group would spend half the year promoting this album, they worked so hard their rookie year. Here’s a stage from Music Core with heavy eyeliner and heavy bangs. Oh, 2009!
#9 Bada featuring Untouchable “Mad”
This was the lead single from her “See The Sea” album. It’s a cute title because her name means “sea”. This album featured a song with 2PM’s Taecyeon, who was apparently booked and busy this week. This was also her last full album. Here’s a live stage from M Countdown. This was before when broadcast stations weren’t as strict with the outfits. Because no way they would allow bikini tops nowadays lol.
