The hook does sound quite similar but the rest of the song is different enough that it doesn't seem like a direct ripoff. I think Cupid just has a very reminiscent of many girl with guitar indie pop songs vibe and that's why it's so easy to like and why it got picked up by the general public so well, there's probably tons of songs that have a vocal bit that sounds like it in it.
That being said, I fully endorse stealing from men.

and of course the main part of Cupid that trended on tiktok is the plagiarized part, that's really upsetting for the Turkish artist. :/ hopefully this news gets the originally song trending because it sounds really cute actually
I wonder how this will affect their current contract talks in the US, but tbh my pessimist opinion is this will get swept under the rug because the US doesn't care about middle eastern music at all. the composer should be reprimanded for this at least, and i feel bad for the girls they have no control over this. shitty situation
