Flashback Friday
Every week I go through the charts for this day in the past and share the top three songs. Then I pick out two more from the top ten as honorable mentions. This week, we are going back to the 3rd week in April, 2009. ALL OF THESE ARE BOPS, YOU CANNOT CONVINCE ME OTHERWISE!!!
#3 Son Dam Bi “Saturday Night”
This was the lead track of her only full album, “Type B”. It was the follow up to her breakout hit, “Crazy”, and this would garner more success. “Saturday Night” was her first song to reach #1 on the charts. It would also get a handful of music show trophies. Here’s a live performance from Music Core. I remember this exact stage! I can’t believe this was 14 years ago.
#2 Davichi “8282”
A year after their big monster rookie year, the duo came back with their only release of 2009. This was one of the singles from their first EP, “Davichi In Wonderland”. Both the song and the album would chart in the top five. Here’s a live stage from MBC’s Beautiful Concert in 2011.
#1 Super Junior “Sorry Sorry”
Not my favorite song from them, but it’s always the first song that comes to mind. This was the lead single from the group’s album of the same name. It was their first album to debut at the top of the charts. This song would give the group ten music show wins, as well as their first triple crown. This is still the group’s best selling single. #7 Wheesung “Insomnia”
This was the Korean version of the Craig David song that was released a few months prior. I just remember this song being everywhere. Both versions lol. Haven’t heard much from him in the past few years, but he apparently had a fan meeting a few months back. Anywho. Here’s a live stage at a special DMC festival.
#9 Kara “Honey”
This is one of my most fav songs from the group! I’ve always loved it so much. This was their first song to top the charts, and also their first to give them a music show win. They also won their first MAMA award for Best Dance. It was the start of a very busy breakout year for the group. Here’s a stage from a special year end episode of Music Core.
