Flashback Friday

Aug 26, 2022 13:44

It’s Friday! Every week I check the charts for this day in the past and post the top three songs. Then I pick out two more from the top ten as honorable mentions. This week, we are going back to the 4th week in August, 2015. A nice mix of songs this week, with some fun comeback stages.

#3 Beast “YeY”
This was the lead single from the group’s “Ordinary” EP. It would be their last release with Hyunseung. The song would peak at #3 and the album at #1. It would be their only release in 2015. The only part I remember about the song is the “yeah yeah yeah yeah” during the chorus. Here’s their comeback stage on M Countdown. Looks like a fun stage.

#2 Wonder Girls “I Feel You”
The lead single from the group’s 3rd and final full album, it was also their comeback after three years. It also featured the return of Sunmi, and the first release since Sohee and Sunye’s departure. The album would peak at #3, while the song would hit the top spot on the charts. I loved everything about this era so much. Here’s their comeback stage at Music Core. Gorgeous gorgeous girls I miss them so much.

#1 SHINee “Married To The Music”
This was the lead single from album of the same name. It was a repackage of “Odd”, the album that was released earlier in the Spring. I remember this era happening, but I don’t remember the live stages or the choreo at all. Except that part in the beginning where they are carrying Jonghyun. Because it’s like in the MV lol. I guess I remember the video the most. Here’s their comeback stage at Music Core. The fans and fanchants are so damn loud!

Honorable Mentions

#5 Apink “Remember”
This was the title track from their album, “Pink Memory”. Both the song and the album would peak at #2 on the charts. After promotions for the song, the girls would spend the rest of year with concerts and tours around the world. Here’s a club remix of the song that they did for MBC Gayo. I don’t think it works. They look like they are having fun with different choreo though. What do you think?

#6 Hyukoh “Wi Ing Wi Ing”
This song was the lead single from the band’s debut EP, “20”. The album was released in 2014, but the song would top the charts again in 2015 with their appearance on Infinite Challenge’s Song Festival. It was also around this time that the band would sign on to Tablo’s former HIGHGRND label as their first official artist. Here’s a live stage from an intimate concert. I miss going to small shows like this.
