What a great post! Thank you for taking the time out to do it!

I agree on Where the Camellia Blooms and while the drama sort of lost itself in the murder mystery point of it, I love Dong-Baek and how she stood up for herself at every turn. And even if she got overwhelmed or frustrated or didn't know where to go, she always worked her way out or learned how to lean on others in a way she hadn't before. Her kid was so cute ;__;

I feel like an honorable mention for me is Doom at Your Service with Park Boyoung and Seo Inguk. And while the drama kind of went off the rails towards the middle and lowkey at the end, I think Dongkyung is one of those characters who I really admired for taking everything in stride, sometimes too much and then learning how to be okay with accepting help. To step away from being so responsible about everything and learning it's okay to be soft or full of feelings around those who love you.

From her becoming an orphan so young, taking pure responsibility for her sibling and even at the very beginning when she learns she has a brain tumor and is supposed to die, she takes it in stride. She says "its fine" and works through it and while later on in the drama she does become more dependent (for reasons) on Myulmang, she doesn't lose herself completely. She knows she can't do what needs to be done by herself anymore and watching her grow, and learn and accept help from others was truly wonderful to see. The drama isn't perfect by any means but she really is a lovely character and really shows the depth in which characters can be written.

thank you 💕 i think with where the camellia blooms, i didn't fully understand dongbaek's character when i started it but really appreciated her more and more near the end. you describe her character really nicely :) the murder mystery point was so unnecessary, they should've left the show more in a hometown cha-cha-cha vibe (without the male lead trauma overtaking the story of course! hometown cha-cha-cha was also very guilty of this trope lol)

interesting that you mention doom at your service! i remember so little of the show despite having made the discussion posts here lmaooo but the way you summarize her character so emphatically i wished we could've seen more of this development in the drama. the drama's story became so convoluted and unclear to me that i kind of started to miss out on the humanity in the character. or the drama should've had 8 episodes instead of 16 (?)
