Flashback Friday
Happy Friday! Every week I go through the charts for this day in the past and post the top three songs. Then I pick out two more from the top ten as honorable mentions. This week, we are going back to the 1st week of May, 2014.
#3 15& “Can’t Hide It”
This was a single that would be included in the duo’s only album, “Sugar”. The album was announced with the release of this song, and dropped the next month. It was their only song to ever reach the top spot on the charts. JYP really dropped the ball with these two. They made their debut in the fall of 2012, and this song was only their 3rd song. Just 3 singles, such a waste. They have both been gone from JYP for years now, and seem to be happy making their own music.
#2 Apink “Mr. Chu”
This was the lead single from their mini album, “Pink Blossom”. It is still one of their biggest selling songs. The group would take six music show trophies for this song, their first wins in almost two and a half years. I don’t know why, but song makes me hype lol. I’m perfectly fine until the chorus, then I’m screaming/singing along to it every time. It’s been awhile, so let’s check out the music video again. So cute!
#1 Akdong Musician “200%”
This is one of the three singles that the brother-sister duo would debut with. All three songs would reach the top five on the charts, but this one would peak at the top. The album, “Play” would peak at #1 as well. I still remember posting their debut teasers here lol! I can’t believe it’s been 8 years. It’s been a while, so let’s check out the music video again. It stars Suhyun with actor Nam Joo Hyuk in his acting debut. It’s still super cute with a twist ending lol.
Honorable Mentions
#5 HIGH4 & IU “Not Spring, Love, Or Cherry Blossoms”
This song served as HIGH4’s debut song. They collaborated with their LOEN labelmate, IU. I don’t really remember this song or the group as well. But checking their Wikipedia I saw that they had unit group that was named HIGH4 20 that released a song called “HookGA” and I had to chuckle lol. Anywho! I couldn’t find any live stages of this song with both IU and the group. Which is weird. The song would peak at the top spot and sold very well. There are a few solo IU performances, but none with the group. So here’s the MV again.
#10 Park Hyo Shin “Wildflower”
This was his first release after a four year hiatus, and was a huge hit. It would reach the top of the charts, and is one of the biggest selling songs ever in Korea. The song would stay on the charts for a long time, it was still in the top 100 two years later. Here’s a live performance of the song on Sketchbook. That thumbnail tho. It looks like he’s an angel or something with that lighting lol.
