“Our company structure is so unique,” Bang says; it’s able to capture revenue from multiple points. That’s a contrast to many other labels. “The music industry is losing quite a lot in the value chain. I feel the music industry should be making a lot more money and their value as a service should be recognized more,” he says, referring to the artists’ work. “Mr. Bang and HYBE have always prioritized the essentials-the music,” says BTS member J-Hope.these two quotes feel contradictory to me but ok ( ... )

He is so handsome!

Saying they prioritize music but a few lines above Bang talking about NFTs. Sure he began as a producer but now he wants to make even more money.

I am more than ready for a new album full of Korean songs TT

yeah but also kind of what kyungwons says below, their releases and activities having been so commercial during the pandemic signified for me that hybe had prioritized money over music, so i don't recognize what jhope is saying in the interview at all, i'm rather seeing what bang pd is sort of saying that to make them bankable as a group, they're making products off them on the basis of multiple products with their names attached on the basis of limited group releases the past 2 years. how is that prioritizing music?

i immediately started searching for embroidered jeans when i saw those pics, the influence he has on me! also wonder how he's gonna perform at the grammys when his hand still has a cast and obv isn't healed yet.

and i also hold out hope for new music with them. i think my issue is like at the end of the day hybe is a business so i can ignore all their capitalistic ways if it doesnt touch the music much (like merch etc) but their pandemic releases have been sooooo commercial and a real shallow version of their past music i hope with a full album they can get back more to their older sound or at least something more experimental or new in a way that doesnt obsess over it being as palatable to a western pop audience as possible.

#jinpact!! i saw his hand though it looked way more serious than initially announced (and wasn't it also announced a while ago too?)

yeah that's exactly what i'm hoping for too, in that sense their next album will be really significant, to see what direction they'll take as a group musically

yeah i feel they downplayed it a lot in the announcement if it still needs a pretty big cast now but maybe the big cast is an overly cautious measure? so who knows but hopefully it's not as bad as it looks.

Yeah this is pretty much mte, like at the end of the day they’re a business for profit, they’ve got a lot of mouths to feed and are maybe losing their breadwinners for 1.5 years. Like I’m not mad they’re trying to make as much money as they can while they can. But the music has been SO bad and content so low-effort that it makes it harder to swallow everything else lol

I really hope their next album is even slightly a return to form, it’s honestly jarring that the same people who created HYYH / Wings were responsible for PTD

i had forgotten about ptd until i read this comment my mind has done a truly astonishing job at pretending it never happened lmao i was talking about like butter/dynamite in my comment which aren't awful awful unlike ptd but still overly shallow.

i have hope for a full album because they have a chance to put in more variety of genres/songs like if they feel like they need a super commerical single i can stomach it if their b-sides are decent. i don't even need them to return to the wings sound like i enjoyed map of the soul: 7 but with their recent output i even doubt they can turn out something like it again.
