Actors Lee Min-ho and Gong Hyo-jin will co-star in the upcoming sci-fi, romantic comedy series, "Ask the Stars."
The series' production studio, Keyeast Entertainment, announced Monday that the two stars have confirmed their lead roles in the series.
The big-budget series, set in a space station, has taken about five years to begin production. Star screenwriter Seo Sook-hyang, who created the romantic comedy series "Pasta" (2010) and "Don't Dare to Dream" (2016), has joined hands with director Park Shin-woo, who previously led the 2020 romantic comedy series "It's Okay to Not Be Okay."
Lee will play the role of a gynecologist, Gong Ryong, who goes on a trip to the space station as a space traveler. Gong will play the role of a Korean American astronaut named Eve Kim.
The series is set to begin shooting in April and is expected to be released next year.
Lee debuted as a teen actor in the 2006 teen TV drama "Secret Campus," and rose to stardom after his breakthrough role in the 2009 romance series "Boys Over Flowers." He has starred in various series and movies, including the 2015 crime action film "Gangnam Blues" and the new Apple TV+ original series "Pachinko."
Gong debuted with a supporting role in the 1999 horror movie "Memento Mori." She has starred in various hit series with romantic comedy elements, such as "It's Okay, that's Love" (2014) and "When the Camellia Blooms" (2019).
