Girls ruled the roost this month, with Mark and BTOB making guest appearances. We had a few split posts for lead singles and albums so I've generously counted the comments together for those.
In honour of the terrible month dior_chic's inbox must have had, I'd like to present this gold star:
Kisu was an original member of the group 24K, one of the several nugu groups that are infamous for the revolving door that is their lineup. Kisu was their main vocal while in it and after his military service announced that he was going solo. This is a sweet guitar ballad, in which he shows his voice off with breathy emotion and light falsetto riffs instead of the powerful notes some vocalists favour, and it suits his voice very well. In the music video, Kisu spends a day at home with a very adorable giant teddy bear.
SKY-HIGH, aka Mitsuhiro Hidaka, is a Japanese singer/rapper and member of AAA. I'm surprised I didn't hear even a breath from the Straykids fans about this. It's a Japanese release but the 3RACHA members perform in English and Korean. It's a decent enough song - very dramatic and high energy - but it's not for the noise music haters. The music video seems to be made in the same way Lady Gaga's Sour Candy video was.
This month this section is a little ballad-heavy. I don't keep up with the Melody Day girlies as much as I should. Melody Day was a vocally-biased group and even within that Yeo Eun was their main vocal. This is a bittersweet but powerful, dramatic and energetic ballad that shows off her skills from the very start.
I really meant to make a post about this but I never got around to it. Big Mama are an OG, initially debuting under YG in 2003, moving agencies in 2010, and disbanding in 2012. They got back together last year for a release and have continued on, releasing a full-length album in February with 'Like Nothing Happened' as their lead single. If you want to experience some real vocals and want to support older women in the industry, this is the release for you.
So, omona, let's discuss! What are you still listening to? What grew on you? What fell out of favour quickly? Did you miss any releases that you would have been looking forward to? Who surprised you and who let you down? Is there anything omona missed that you'd recommend? Did you find that the reaction to releases in other kpop communities was different to omona's?
