Flashback Friday

Feb 25, 2022 14:51

Hey party people, happy Friday! Every week I check the charts for this day in the past and share the top three songs. Then I pick out two more from the top ten as honorable mentions. This week, let’s check out what we were listening to in the 4th week of February, 2015.

#3 Zion.T & Crush “Just”
2015 was a very busy year for the both of them. Along with his own song releases, Zion.T would feature on a handful of others’ songs as well. He would also become a judge for the 5th series of Show Me The Money, and join in the last Infinite Challenge music festival. Crush would be busy with this own songs, and other features too. He would also have his first solo concert this year. “Just” would debut in the top spot, and would win the MAMA for best collaboration for this song too. Like, I like this song because I think it’s pretty and they sound real good…but the lyrics give me “text messages from your ex at 3am when he wants you to notice him” lol.

#2 EXID “Up And Down”
We all know the story by now. In the summer of 2014, EXID released this song. It barely made it to the charts, sneaking in at 94 on the domestic charts. In October, a fancam of Hani went viral (currently at 35 million views), and the song started climbing up the charts. Despite formally ending promotions months earlier, the group started appearing on the music shows again in January 2015. And getting wins! The song would reach the top spot, and is still their biggest selling song.

#1 4Minute “Crazy”
This was one of the lead singles from the EP of the same name. It was their first comeback in almost a year. I always feel like I’m in the minority, but I could never get into this song. They all look great though. The song was a hit, and would give them a total of seven music show trophies. That included a win at Music Core, their first ever win on that show. I know, weird! But it looks like it checks out. “Crazy” would end up being the group’s penultimate release, their contracts would expire and they would disband the next year. This week, let’s check out the dance version MV.

Honorable Mentions

#7 Amber “Shake That Brass”
Amber was the first f(x) member to make a solo debut, and she did with the EP, “Beautiful”. I always forget that this happened. Amber co-wrote and co-composed every song on the EP. The original song features Taeyeon, but for her solo debut stage at Music Core she is joined by Red Velvet’s Wendy. I can’t stop staring at the way that hat sits on Wendy’s head. Why?

#8 Jung Yonghwa “One Fine Day”
This was the official solo debut from the CN Blue leader. The song would peak in the top three, while the full album would take the top spot. He would also win four music show trophies for this song. A Japanese version of the song would be released a few weeks later, quickly followed by his first solo concerts where he would tour Asia. Here’s a Sketchbook performance from a few years later when he was promoting his next solo project.
