Flashback Friday

Jan 21, 2022 13:41

Wassup party people. Every Friday I go through the charts for this day in the past and post the top three songs. Then I pick out two more from the top ten as honorable mentions. This week we are going back to the 3rd week in January, 2012.

#3 10cm “Sorrow”
This was part of a special album for music producer Yoon Il Sang’s 21st anniversary. He collaborated with singers to make a compilation album filled with new versions of his hit songs. This song is a remake of Cool’s 1998 song. The song wasn’t promoted on the music shows or anything like that, but later he did put up some fancams of some performances on the official YouTube channel. So here’s a stage at the Gimcheon Grand Festival.

#2 Dynamic Duo “Without You”
This is still their biggest selling songs and would peak at the #2 spot. It was the single from their album “Dynamic Duo 6th Digilog 2/2”, which would hit the top spot. I don’t remember anything from this era. Here’s their comeback stage at Music Core.

#1 T-ara “Lovey Dovey”
It was their third straight #1 song, and this is still one of their biggest selling songs. It would debut at the top spot, where it would stay for weeks. Then it would remain in the top ten for months. This isn’t one of my favorites from the group, but it is damn ear wormy lol. Apparently there were plans for five music videos for this song, but only three of them were released. Let’s check out the zombie version again.

Honorable Mentions

#6 MBLAQ “This Is War”
This is one of their biggest hits. It is one of their biggest selling and highest charting songs. This song was one of the singles from their “100% Ver.” EP. It's not my most favorite from the group, but I remember this era so clearly. It’s been awhile, so let’s check out the MV again. So dramatic! I love it.

#8 Wonder Girls “The DJ Is Mine”
This is probably the Wonder Girls song that I always forget about. I never remember the song, never remember the TV movie, nothing from this era. And then I see MV or hear the song and am like “oh yeah…that happened”. It’s not as bad as I remember though. The song was released for the movie, but then was later included in the group’s “Wonder Party” EP a few months later. It would be their last EP released with this lineup.
