Bad neighbors are the absolute WORST. Not being able to relax at your own house really takes an extremely deep toll on someone's mental health. He should be deeply ashamed of himself.

I moved to my current house because my previous upstairs neighbors couldn't be assed to properly soundproof their flooring (It's mandatory here, and super easy to do) and they would stomp around all day and night. Heavy kettlebell workouts starting from 7AM, blaring loud music and anytime you would mention anything 'Oh no it's not uss....' and then you'd hear them laugh the second the door was closed.

I hope these people all go to a special hell where they cannot sleep because of noisy neighbors.

I used a bit over dramatic words since i still hold a grudge against those dicks. Basically here when you rent a long term apartment it comes without the floor most of the time. You are not allowed to lay bare floor down on the concrete, it’s illegal because of the noise.

So you have to insulate the bare ground before you can put a floor on it. If you don’t do it and your neighbors complain you get get a fine after and inspection plus you have to redo the whole floor. Which is usually upwards of 800 euro for 50m2. It’s serious business.

I learned from a lot of my coworkers that other countries just kinda do whatever they want and it shocked me. But to them it’s crazy we don’t get floors with our units lol

I've never heard of apartments not coming with a floor! 😲 Do you get to take it with you when you move?

Afaik in the USA its just like you can complain to your neighbor but if they have kids or are just loud it's an "oh well, i will never live below someone again" situation

You technically could take it with you since it belongs to you but it's a big hassle to remove and it might not fit the next house well. So if you are lucky when you move to a new house you can pay the previous tenant for the floor if it's still there. In my current house I paid 200 euro to the previous guy for the floor which is WAAAAAY cheaper than it would have been to put one there so i'm real lucky.

Currently dealing with that, and it really does take such a toll on your mental health to not feel safety and peace in your own home ( ... )
