Rapper NO:EL Arrested For Driving Without A License And Assaulting A Police Officer During Probation

Sep 20, 2021 16:38

On September 19, Yonhap News reported that rapper NO:EL had been arrested on suspicions of driving without a license and assaulting a police officer.

According to the report, on September 18 at 10:30 p.m. KST, NO:EL had been driving a Mercedes Benz in the Banpo-dong neighborhood of Seocho-gu in Seoul when he had a collision. When a police officer arrived on the scene to check his blood alcohol level and his license, he refused to comply and struck them on the head.

NO:EL is the son of politician Jang Je Won and a former “High School Rapper” contestant. In June 2020, he received a suspended sentence for driving under the influence of alcohol and colliding with a motorcycle. His blood alcohol level had been high enough to suspend his license at the time. In that court case, it was also revealed that he had attempted to cover up that incident by switching places with an acquaintance.

A suspended sentence means that the defendant will not serve the prison sentence unless he breaks the terms of his two-year probation. As NO:EL was still under probation at the time of the current incident, it remains to be seen whether he will serve the original sentence of one year and six months in prison.
On September 19, NO:EL posted on Instagram, “I have no words to say. I will unreservedly take all the punishment that I deserve. I will work harder to become a more mature member of society. Starting with my fans, I am sorry to all the people who have been hurt because of me.”

Rep. Jang Je-won's son rapper Noel has been arrested again for drunk driving and assaulting police.

On the 18th, SBS '8 News' revealed exclusive black box footage that shows that at a crossroad in Banpo-dong, Seoul at around 10:50pm, police stopped a white Mercedes Benz driving with emergency lights on after hitting the left side of a vehicle on the right while changing lanes before turning right at the intersection.

Police later found out the driver was Jang Yong-jun (Noel) and when police asked him to get out of the vehicle for a breathalyzer, he refused and hit and pushed the police officer.

A witness on the scene revealed, "I heard shouting and then the driver [Noel] shoved and hit police on the chest with his hands. When police tried to pull him out [of the vehicle], he sat back down and pushed the officer and hit him on the head. The fight continued for several minutes. He [Noel] looked drunk and anyone could see that he was on drugs or drunk..."

  2. [+6,014, -95] Jang Je-won!! If you can't raise your son properly resign as a member of the National Assembly!
  3. [+3,716, -19] If this trash ba$tard isn't put in prison this time after second drunk driving charge and assault of a police officer then this proves how rotten our country truly is. If he's jailed, the whole country will be doing somersaults on the streets!
  4. [+2,673, -28] He committed so many crimes already but they couldn't even arrest him? There are people that will never change no matter what. How did Jang Je-won become a member of the National Assembly. A son like him is a mirror reflection of his father. Jang Je-won needs to take responsibility and step down now. He wants to sit high on his throne and criticize others but isn't willing to do the same with his rotten kids. Unlicensed...drunk driving accident... refused breathalyzer.. Assault of a police officer... Has a history of drunk driving... He even committed fraud by trying to change drivers. But he was escorted home without investigations..??!! Even I'm starting to doubt my eyes. I can only resent the unfair society in our rotten country..!!!
  5. [+2,243, -16] ?? Why wasn't he arrested and put behind bars? If this was a regular person, wouldn't he be arrested immediately?
  6. [+657, -1] Since when has police sent a commoner home after drunk driving? Reveal the name of the police officer that sent him over to his daddy's house!!
  7. [+589, -3] Jang Je-won, explain your rotten son's deeds! You went around criticizing someone's else's family like that when you can't even properly raise your own kids? Drunk driving? Assault of a police officer? All while on probation without a license??? Isn't this flexing your power?
  8. [+353, -4] "We'll decide whether to apply for an arrest warrant after the holidays.." ???? Am I the only one that doesn't get this?? Shouldn't he be arrested right away?
  9. [+239, -5] Unlicensed + refused breathalyzer + assault of police officer + drunk driving, all while on probation but he was sent home for the holidays because it's too hard to investigate? Is this police in his right mind..??!!
  10. [+203, -2] He didn't get jailed..??!
