Flashback Friday

Oct 09, 2020 15:06

Happy Friday! Every week I go through the charts for this day in the past and share the top three songs. Then I pick out two more from the top ten as honorable mentions. This week, we are going back 6 years to the 2nd week in October, 2014. I don’t remember much of this week, maybe you remember more.

#3 Girls’ Generation TTS “Holler”
This is the title track of the trio’s EP of the same name. It would debut at the top spot on the charts. The only thing I really remember from this song was the “Holler Holler” part in the chrous. And Seohyun in the elevator! The only visual I remember from this music video idk wtf. Less than 2 weeks after the song’s release, Girls’ Generation and K-Pop would forever be changed. Was that too dramatic? I literally just finished reading Jessica’s book today lol. See you tomorrow at book club!

#2 Ailee “Don’t Touch Me”
“Don’t Touch Me” was the lead single from Ailee’s EP, “Magazine”. This did well for her. The song would peak at the #1 spot, and the album in the top ten. She co-wrote the lyrics for this song, as well as four other songs on the album. I don’t remember the MV for this at all, and the song only sounds familiar to me.

#1 Soyou & Urban Zakapa “The Space Between”
The song would debut at #3 and would climb to the top spot in hours. It would a good year for all of them. Earlier this year Soyou’s big hit duet with Junggigo, “Some” was released, and Urban Zakapa would follow this up with a full album of their own. The MV stars Nam Bo Ra and Ahn Jae Hyun, who I didn’t recognize until I Googled the MV, but now I totally see it wtf lol.

Honorable Mentions

#4 2pm “Go Crazy!”
This was the lead single from the group’s album of the same name. This was the group’s comeback after a year, and was postponed for five months until its release in September. I didn’t recognize the song by the title, but now seeing the video I remember a bit part of the choreo. I also remembering not really liking this era. Both the song and the album would peak in the top ten.

#5 Teen Top “Missing”
This was the single off of their “Exito” EP, and both the album and song would peak in the top ten. I don’t remember any of this at all. And per usual with every Teen Top MV, I have questions. Is Niel injured? Why does he get to just stand there with a mic stand and do fancy MJ moves with a bedazzled hat? And no crotch grabbing choreography this time!
