Flashback Friday
Every week I check the charts for this day in the past and post the top three songs. Then I pick out two more from the top ten as honorable mentions. This week, we are going back 10 years to the 1st week of September, 2010.
#3 Secret “Madonna”
“Madonna” was the single off of the group’s mini of the same name. It was the follow up to “Magic”, which came out about four and a half months prior. I still get the two of them mixed up all the time lol. ALWAYS. “Madonna” would give them their first #1 on the charts. They would also make their Japanese debut with this song a year later. Here they are doing the song at SBS Gayo.
#2 Homme “I Was Able To Eat Well”
The fact that they don’t make music together anymore bums me out because they really sound so damn good together. This was the debut single from the 2AM Lee Changmin and 8Eight Lee Hyun duo. The song would peak at #1, and get nominated for awards at the year end shows. What has Changmin been up to? I feel like we haven’t heard from him in a while.
#1 DJ D.O.C. “I’m A Guy Like This”
I remember this song, I remember the MV the most. Apparently was written by PSY, and I think it totally sounds like a PSY song. He’s performed it at his concerts too. This song was the first release from the group in 6 years, and then they would not make another comeback until 2015.
Honorable Mentions
#7 Rainbow “A”
“A” was the follow up single to their debut mini. I totally thought it came way later, but nope, this was their first digital single. This would be their first song that reached the top ten. A Japanese version of the song was used as their Japanese debut a year later, and would peak at #3 there. Ahhh remember when music shows would just have random performances outside the studio? Like just showing up at a theme park with tourists passing through in the background lol.
#8 Se7en “Better Together”
I remember really liking most of this. The only part I didn’t like was the first part of the chorus with all the autotune. He should have just sang it. But I really do love the rest of the song. This was one of the singles off of his “Digital Bounce” album, his first Korean comeback in 3 years after coming back from the US.
