Hi Omona! I hope everyone has a lovely weekend, despite world events.
My week was okay. Like many people I've pretty much gotten fired from my job and this week I was feeling low because of that + the general pandemic shenanigans. Being at home all day can be a challenge for me too, as it makes me feel lazy and unproductive (not that I am though). In general I've been trying to work on my future still and do little household related tasks, while making time to relax. I finished 'My Holo Love' last weekend, and I'm in such a Kdrama mood again! This close to gifting myself a Viki subscription lol. Would that be worth it? Any Kdrama recommendations (old/new, any genre) you guys could give me?
I've also been catching up on Kpop releases and giving male artists/groups more attention. Ong Seung Woo's ep is really gorgeous.
Idk much about Seung Woo honestly, Gravity was on a Kpop spotify playlist I put on and it really caught my attention. The mini itself is really atmospheric so definitely recommended :)
I've always felt that YG's lack of activities with Blackpink was part internal issues but also part on purpose for various reasons, and this video is really helpful! I've felt similarly to the video maker - that Blackpink seem to be better marketed separately, that YG have almost encouraged the akgaes of the fandom (which fits with YG standard behaviour anyway because YG groups have always had excessive akgaes compared to other fandoms), that Jennie isn't particularly fashionable (she's dressed in a certain style but it's definitely not hers). In a way it feels like it could be one logical end point for some types of kpop idols, they were always sold as an "ideal" and so for them to debut, then seldomly release music and just work as models and (tightly controlled and cultivated) personalities.
I often feel like the one or two members in a group who get shafted for lines are given such treatment on purpose by the agency because they know there will be a subset of fans who will become diehards for that one member not despite their seemingly unfair treatment but _because_ of it, because of the attraction of getting in arms about this mistreatment.

Earlier this week I also stumbled upon the following video: an analysis on YG's marketing strategy with Blackpink and how the group basically revolves around fan self-inserting? I ended up watching this twice in a row because it really articulates how I've been feeling about this group for a long time.
Stay healthy everyone and be kind to yourself, especially at this time :)
