I think he was trying to say that he feels as men they should protect and be chivalrous to women but it came out all wrong.

No, I think he meant it like people in the United States pre-1950 meant it: Women are the weaker sex.

But he seems taking more about physicality not so much mental weakness. 50s US was just a sexist and gender unequal as the 40s, 30s and so on. Women equality movement aka the Feminist Movement didn't start till the 1960s and grew rapidly in the late 60s up 1980s when is kind of died out.

The idea that "women are the weaker sex" comes precicely from the idea that men are physically stronger than women, and therefore need to protect them.

Women equality movement aka the Feminist Movement didn't start till the 1960s

Actually, there have been several Feminist Movements, and it was during the First Wave that the idea that women are not the weaker sex and should have protects from her husband emerged. This was during the 10s and early 20s.

Throughout the 50s, women began to challenge the idea that women were the "other" in society, and that men were the default. This made it possible for the 2nd wave to gather strength and come full force.

Unfortunately, this mentality has not yet reached Korea on a wide-enough scale.

My argument was mainly focusing in the second wave of the WEM. The first wave wasn't much importance to what i was saying bc it had more to do with suffrage and that's not what were talking about here. Women of the first wave cared about having the right to vote more so than being equal to men in the household when it came to money or business or other aspects of society. They still advocated for more power for women but not so much as the 2nd wave which really changed a lot of aspects of society for women. Much of the results are seen today. Many of the leaders of the 1st wave believed that a woman's place was in the home but they believed a woman should be allowed to vote.

That's like saying the Civil War has no bearing on the Civil Rights Movement of the 60s because it wasn't necessarily about the same thing.

It was during the 10s and 20s that women could actually be seen as "humans" first emerged. Suffrage was a major part of the idea of a woman's humanity. There were huge reforms in education, the workplace and other professions.

Many of the leaders of the 1st wave believed that a woman's place was in the home but they believed a woman should be allowed to vote.

Yeah, and a lot of the earlier Civil Rights leaders believed in a talented 10th and in blood hierarchies.

2nd Wave Feminism also has a lot of issues and problems.

I agree with this actually.

He made references to paying for dinner and 'protecting' women.

Though he did explicitly say we are the weaker sex, I don't think he meant it quite as strongly as that implies.

IA. What with Eeteuk said earlier to Eunhyuk on Sukira about how women should just keep their jobs after they get married and everything I can't see him suddenly turning on us, lol.

And it's pretty much been scientifically proven that women, in general ARE weaker than men. Why are people acting all butthurt over this? XD
