Yup everyone seems besotted with her. And I am too! She just seems so naturally cute and nice and not snobbish at all. And the fact that she's so talented at acting omg. She runs circles round most of Korea's so called top actresses imo; but doesn't seem to let that fame get to her and chooses projects carefully (though I'd say SWDBS wasn't a great choice). Also like that she keeps her private life private and doesn't do all the social media stuff.
The thing is I feel bad for the actresses bc the roles written for women in kdramaland is so.... mostly ugh... not sorry to say
But actresses like her and Gong Hyo Jin always give in a great performance nonetheless because they're just THAT talented and everything comes off so earnest, they rise above their characters
People always praise movie/dramatic actresses but I realized how hard it is to create warmth and infuse that in an ordinary character and someone like PBY does that so naturally and that's amazing to me. And it's not like she can't do dramatic. In A Werewolf Boy she blew me away.
Ugh please don't wait two more years to do another drama 😭
Yeah the roles for women in drama land aren't appealing at all. And I think it'll stay like that for a pretty long time.
And I agree, it is very difficult to play the role of a "normal, average" person. It's just easier to do something dramatic or play roles which don't really exist in reality. I think loads of k actors and actresses overact and are very unnatural. But PBY is one of the few that makes her character super relatable and does it very naturally. I watched her in the movie The Silenced recently. Her character there was so different from BS yet she was so believable. Amazing range!
She's one of my absolute favorite Korean actresses--she just seems so lovely and wonderful to work with. The fact that all her costars seem to adore her shows she's a great person. I need to watch more of her movies, but I'm glad she's doing dramas now. Even if both her recent choices haven't been amazing, she's done great in them.

Granted I did not know who she was when I saw that movie but I've now watched her in two series and did not pick that up at all. Wow.
