Despite a rough past with lineup issues, Super Junior has no harsh feelings against two of the members that have been absent from the group since 2009.
On July 15, five members of Super Junior appeared on MBC's "Radio Star" to discuss their new album, "Devil." During the episode, Super Junior discussed the possibility of welcoming back on-hiatus member Kim Kibum and one member's run in with former member Hankyung (Hangeng.) [More] "Radio Star" host Kim Gu Ra raised the topic of the two members of Super Junior's original lineup, and caused initial discomfit but Super Junior talked about the sensitive issues.
Both Kibum and Hankyung last officially appeared with Super Junior in 2009. Hankyung left SM Entertainment after filing a contract nullification, while Kibum went inactive to focus on his acting creer. However, Super Junior's comments on the episode revealed that there were no hard feelings.
"Kim Kibum is still a member of Super Junior," said Super Junior's Eunhyuk, speaking for the group. "More than being a singer, his goal is to be an actor so he doesn't promote as a singer. If he has an intention of being a singer, we are of the mind to accept his return."
Super Junior said that Kibum was considered as being on extended leave from Super Junior.
Regarding Hankyung, Yesung told a story about running into his former groupmate at a clothing sale and talked about their friendly conversation.
"Honestly, it was nice to see him," said Yesung. "We were friends. He even said, 'it's been a while. How have you been? Let's get food sometimes.' "
"Devil" was released on July 16 as a special comemorative album celebrating Super Junior's tenth anniversary.
On the July 15 broadcast of MBC’s variety talk show “Radio Star,” the members of Super Junior made a guest appearance to celebrate the group’s 10th debut anniversary.
On this day, members Leeteuk, Heechul, Siwon, Eunhyuk, Donghae, and Yesung appeared on the show while Kyuhyun took up his regular MC position.
During the episode, the MCs brought up the topic of Sulli, who is known to be close with Heechul. At the mention of Sulli, Heechul responded, “I dropped out of ‘War of Words’ to avoid having to talk about Sulli but they ask me about it here,” causing laughter.
When asked about the rumors that he unfollowed Sulli on SNS, the Super Junior member shared, “Our SNS accounts get hacked into very often. So at that time, I unfollowed everyone. I usually start following people again, one by one, as I meet up with them. But [in the middle of that process] Sulli told me about the articles [of my unfollowing]. When I read them, there were comments saying things like, ‘If even Kim Heechul unfollowed Sulli, she’s not human,’” explaining that it wasn’t the case that he intentionally unfollowed Sulli as reports claimed.
On the broadcast of MBC’s variety talk show “Radio Star” that aired on July 15,Super Junior members Leeteuk, Heechul, Siwon, Eunhyuk, Donghae, andYesung appeared as guests while member Kyuhyun took up his usual MC seat.
During the broadcast, the MCs asked Donghae, “We heard you want to take Kyuhyun out of Super Junior and replace him with EXO’s Sehun?”
After hearing this, Kyuhyun got worked up and questioned, “Then would you replace your family with another family just because you like them better?”
To calm Kyuhyun down, MC Kim Gu Ra joked, “Then you can just join EXO.” Kyuhyun brightened up at the suggestion and said, “I like that idea,” making everyone laugh. Can you imagine Sehun in Super Junior or Kyuhyun in EXO?
Super Junior members did hilarious (and accurate…!) imitations of their fellow member Ryeowook‘s voice.
On the July 15 broadcast of MBC‘s “Radio Star,” Super Junior’s Leeteuk, Siwon, Heechul, Yesung, Donghae, and Eunhyuk join Kyuhyun and the rest of the MCs as guests.
When MC Yoon Jong Shin asks, “Has anyone fought with Choi Siwon?” Yesung answers, “Ryeowook has.”
Leeteuk explains, “Siwon likes high fives. He did them so much one time that Ryeowook got annoyed and told him to stop.”
Choi Siwon then reveals that he said to Ryeowook, “Are you prepared never to see me again?”
When asked how Ryeowook responded, Choi Siwon does a high-pitched imitation of Ryeowook saying, “I’m prepared! I’m prepared!”
Even afterwards, whenever Ryeowook is brought up during he talk, the members imitate his unique voice, inciting laughter.
According to the show’s captions, the event happened back in 2010 at the “Incheon Korean Music Wave” concert.
“Even right up to the moment when we had to go on stage, we were fighting,” Leeteuk says. “We probably fought for about thirty minutes.”
“This is really childish, but who won the fight?” asks Kim Gu Ra.
Yesung jumps in at this point to say that he thinks that the two of them didn’t have much experience in fighting. He starts explaining, “Leeteuk grabbed Heechul’s collar, and then Heechul grabbed Leeteuk’s collar.”
“No, I wasn’t wearing a t-shirt then,” interrupts Leeteuk. “I just had a jacket on.” Heechul also agrees that Yesung doesn’t know what he’s talking about, but Kim Gu Ra tells him off and says he wants to hear it from a witness’s perspective. Yesung continues and says that the two of them were yelling at each other while just holding on to each other’s collars for ten to twenty minutes.
Kyuhyun, as another witness, adds that Leeteuk was the one who started the fight. “Then when I was sitting down, Heechul was standing in front of me, and he went to throw a punch. I pushed Leeteuk away, and I got Heechul’s fist right in my face,” he says. “But since everything was so serious I couldn’t say anything about how much it hurt.”
Leeteuk and Heechul also say that they were promoting their song “Bonamana” at the time, which includes a part where the two are supposed to put their backs together on stage as they’re singing. But since Leeteuk was so angry at him, he didn’t lean back against Heechul and there was just an awkward gap between the two!
“Radio Star” shows a clip of the video, and if this is the right performance then Yesung deserves a point because Leeteuk is definitely wearing a shirt!
“After that, we didn’t talk for about three months,” says Leeteuk. “We made up when we went to the United States.” Heechul explains that they’d made up when Leeteuk decided they should get a drink together all of a sudden.
They both agree that after that, they became even closer and Heechul’s always taken his side.

During the broadcast, Yoon Jong Shin asks, “Is marriage a sensitive topic for the members after Sungmin got married?”
At this, Kim Heechul says, “There was some miscommunication between the members when Sungmin got married. Some fans already knew and were protecting him. From the perspective of fans, it was disappointing to learn about the news through the media.”
Leeteuk adds, “If you are an idol who gets love from fans, I think there are aspects where you need to also give back. The timing of when you say things is important.”
Kim Heechul then confesses, “As a hyung, I am sorry to Sungmin about some things. I thought a member’s wedding should be a happy occasion, and I’m sorry that I didn’t take care of him more.”
