Dance For Me
An Eunhae !fluff Oneshot
Hyukjae tried to hide his smile as he walked- or jogged- across the massive lawn back towards the estate with his phone clipped in between a frozen ear and a heavily padded shoulder.
“Hyukkie! Try find me!”
“I know, Hae, but it’s going to take some time,” Hyukjae wriggled his purple fingers from under the plastic bag that had twisted seven turns around his knuckles, “since you’re hiding.”
He could almost feel the pout from the other end of the line and he sighed.
“Fine, I’m looking, I’m looking.”
“Hm hm!” Hyukjae identified the ambiguous noise as a hum of childish smugness and sighed again. Reaching step by step further into the park, he watched as his feet sank into the white fluffiness of the new floor. Admittedly, the weather was ridiculously cold, but the snow was beautiful. As always.
Suddenly, Hyukjae jerked forwards and landed on his face into the snow, cursing away with a mouthful of melting ice at his misfortune of having such crappy shoelaces and such an annoying friend.
A loud whine deafened Hyukjae from behind his ears.
“You’re so slow!”
“You try walking in this much snow with a phone between your head and your shoulder and carrying load.”
Donghae paused and tilted his head sideways, dropping his snowball-to-be back into the snow.
“What load?”
“Food for ten people, drinks and… stuff.”
“Can you play with me?”
“Now?”
“Uh-huh.”
“It’s so cold, Hae.”
“But there’s snow! And…” Donghae’s cheeks flushed a bright pink, “…I want to watch you dance.”
Hyukjae raised an eyebrow.
“You always see me dance.”
There was a defiant shake of a head.
“Not in the snow.”
Hyukjae got back onto his feet and patted the snow from his clothes reluctantly. He badly wanted to go back into the warmth, but like all the other millions of times, he could never not-melt when Donghae leaned in and kissed him, the years of love and passion pouring through the coldness of the pair of lips touching his own.
Donghae moved away and breathed against Hyukjae’s cheek.
“Dance for me.”
Hyukjae’s first movements were awkward; the bonds of his thick, thick North Face windbreaker stuck his limbs firmly together in a stick-man position, but he finally achieved a full moonwalk, encouraged by Donghae’s glowing smile.
“Go Hyukkie!” Donghae clapped his mittens together and Hyukjae’s lips turned up at the corners- already a pale lilac shade in the cold.
“What do you want next?”
Donghae’s eyes glinted with mischief.
“Michael Jackson.”
“I just did a moonwalk!”
“Fine…”
“How about,” Hyukjae shuffled forwards and reached out for Donghae’s hands, “you dance with me?”
Donghae’s eyes were wide behind his scarf.
“C’mon, Hae, let’s have fun together.”
There was a pause.
“Okay.”
Hyukjae grinned, his gums showing and Donghae twirled around on the spot, laughing when the snow flew up into the air. He also attempted a moonwalk, but ended up in a laughing mess in Hyukjae’s arms.
“I guess I can’t dance like you, Hyukkie.”
“Well, I can’t dance like you either,” Hyukjae pulled Donghae closer, breathing in the soapy scent of his hair.
“I love you, Lee Hyukjae.”
Hyukjae smiled when he caught the pink on Donghae’s face.
“I love you too, Hae.”
“Will you dance for me next winter? And the next? And the winter after that?”
“Every winter, I promise.”
Their final kiss was short, but when Donghae leaned backwards, he smiled the most beautiful smile Hyukjae had ever seen.
“Thank you.”
