i'm actually a computer science major (i may switch to web development but i don't know). i really want to be a writer but it's so much of a competition and i wouldn't have anything to back me up unless i had a very good job that'll give me the time and energy to work on my novels... which doesn't exist.
i don't mind my major that much since i love learning about the computer anyway, i just wish i could write my fantastical adventures. 8(
my sister's dream is to become an author. lol she kind of wants to be the next JK rowling and my dad is like that's nice and all, but you need to minor in something a bit more stable. so she's probably going to major in english and minor in business or something.
hmmm this is a stretch but since you like writing and are a computer science major, ever consider technical writing?
here's hoping you end up writing and publishing those books.
i wish her luck, honestly. :( but i agree with your dad - it'd be good to get a fallback plan. D:
i thought about it but i don't like computers that much, haha. i write for leisure mostly and i like researching random things that i think would be good for it. ¦D;;
i actually read your comment below. what you do is do what i'm doing - becoming a web developer. :D they do both graphics and coding so you don't have to throw away all that you've already learned!
oh man i sort of secretly wish my college had a better program in web programming languages because i would've loved to double major in english/computer science, but they were more on the actual software programming end of things and i just like the internet, lmao. :|
and i guess the thing to remember about writing is that you don't have to be published overnight! even writing/editing for 15 minutes a day will result in something good at the end!
yeah, i know what you mean. thankfully, my college offers multiple languages but they tried to royally screw me up recently (and i'm sure others in my position) so i'm not exactly thrilled with them right now.
this is true! this is why i work on fanfiction, ohohoho!
