don't make me get sick into my own scorn

- I'VE FINALLY FINISHED MY EXAMS. Thank god for that, because I am seriously sick of studying. I ended up writing near-on 50 pages of revision notes for each of my 3 subjects, which was awesome. I really don't mind studying and doing exams, but I was practically spending all day every day studying, which wasn't a lot of fun. Thankfully, my Sociology and Criminology exams were pretty easy. My Psychology one? Not so much. Hopefully I've done enough to pass, since it was worth 70% of my mark. Fingers crossed on that one.

- So, my thoughts on the Doctor Who finale and series altogether:

For one thing, I just feel like they could've done a bit more with Amy's character. I feel like we know a lot about her story, but we don't know a lot about her as a person. I think the main reason I like Amy is because I find karen gillan so damn adorable, rather than the fact she's a brilliant character. Donna, Rose and Martha, in my opinion, were much more fleshed out and well-rounded characters. From each of their first episodes, you already had a grasp of who they were as people.

I also felt that strong emotional connection to them- Martha was probably my least favourite of the companions, but I still really cared about her, and the writing still managed to generate lots emotion in me. For some reason, I really can't engage with Moffat's writing in the way i could with RTD's. i just feel a bit disconnected when i watch it. I know it's cool to hate RTD right now, but I have to say, even with all his flaws, I do miss his writing.

I really liked this episode, but it seems to me that sometimes Moffat tries to be a bit too clever and loses a bit of the emotional side of things. They spent too long explaining out the whole timey-wimey aspect of things, and honestly, I got a bit bored after a while.

Also? River Song makes me want to chop off my own head. Seriously, whenever she says "Spoilers!" in that infinitely annoying way of hers, I want to hurt someone. I despise her more than I've ever despised any character ever. I can't pinpoint exactly why, but she just generates such extreme amounts of hate in me. She is so damn smug, and it drives me insane. Needless to say, I'm not looking forward to the prospect of her coming back next series. Sigh.

I did quite like this series- although I seem to have a minority opinion in disliking the Van Gogh episode- but I just couldn't get into it like previous series. I think Matt Smith and Karen Gillan have done brilliant jobs and are both superb actors, but this series didn't quite work for me for some reason.

- Unsurprisingly, the World Cup has taken over my life. I've literally changed my whole sleep cycle around to fit it in. Here in Australia, the games are on at midnight and 4:30am, which makes things very interesting. It's been totally worth it so far- there's been so many amazing and absorbing games, and I just can't get enough. It helps that I'm practically a neutral supporter, which makes watching games a lot less stressful! It's just been awesome, and I'm really sad that there's only a few weeks left in the tournament...

For the record? I think Argentina will beat Brazil in the final 2-0. Let's see how that prediction pans out...

- What else has happened lately? Australia got our very first lady Prime Minister, which is... well, it's politics. All politicians suck, but at least she's a woman! The Tennis Match of Never-ending Epicness was pretty incredible (I felt so sorry for Mahut, and then for Isner after he got smashed in his next game. Oh, also, I have a brand new guilty pleasure TV show.

Let me introduce you to Dance Academy! It's one of those shows that is so atrociously bad that you can't help but love it. My sister and I stayed up ridiculously late to watch it, just because we simply couldn't stop. The main character is quite possibly the worst actress I've ever seen, which makes it even better to watch. It's so terrible, yet at the same time, so addictive, which is one evil, evil combination.

- I'm eventually going to start that 30 day Ashes to Ashes meme, simply because I really can't quit that show. I'm in the middle of a rewatch now, and I can't get over how much I love every single episode. Favourite show ever? I'm certainly starting to think so.
