Today - The Day I Quit FFXI
First off before I begin, my apologies to everyone who I've let down or have been waiting on my return.
So yeah like the title states, I've finally quit for good. Although it actually seems like I've quit long ago because of my lack of recent game play and a thank you thread I posted at my server's forum a while back. I've managed to stay in the FFXI loop tho, thanks to QCDN, Alla, KI, and of course BG. Not only that but whilst away I had plans to release the biggest library of BLM videos to supplement my collection of info from my blog but as you can see from the date, the update killed my plans.

I really wanted to make my return but when SE stated they were going to extend the level cap beyond Lv75 back in late February, I got worried about my future goals in the game. Would SE make new content uncapped and leave the rest of Vana'diel capped at Lv75 or would they do away with Lv75 entirely? I was hoping for the former but I guess it was meant to be.
So what exactly did the update do to me? Before I get to that there was also another possible fork in the road for Omni. Final Fantasy XIV is supposedly coming out sometime by the end of this year. I'm thinking about picking it up. If I indeed do, playing two games is only going to further delay my future aspirations...

My main gripe of the update was the level cap increase. Vana'diel was no longer capped at Lv75. I would have to gimp myself and stay 75 while I accomplished my goals. I had planned over 30+ solos which I was going to record just on BLM but with the cap being raised what was the point of doing any of this? BLMs were soon to be 80 and later on 99 and would easily be able to do what I wanted to show. Which is assuming they didn't adjust the mobs levels.

Speaking of monster levels. Since they didn't change, everything just became easier and that to me is a turn off. The people that have been complaining the entire time about the difficulty of FFXI have finally won. A message to you guys... fuck you! Of course raising the level cap means requiring less people which means less wait for "looking for members", but with advancements in "sharing information" the possibility for low-manning events has already been there.

I had yet to finish CoP. It was already dumb'd down sometime ago twice if I recall but this time it was taken even further. Before I went on my long break I joked to my friend Hach that I'd return once I had strategized a plan to solo my Promy's. Now that seems to be the case. SE has lifted the caps to CoP zones and things have turned retarded easy. Unfortunately I never got the opportunity to do CoP like I did for the other expansions. CoP wasn't easy like RoZ or ToAU. You just couldn't find someone to help you or plow through it in a few days. Unless you were everyone's friend.
Although in my short time I played I've managed to learn a lot, meet many amazing/horrible peeps, and play what I consider the best game I have ever played. It sucks I won't get to finish my SMN, RDM, and BLU (was really looking forward to collecting spells). It also sucks that I had managed to get some rare drops from some rare NMs (quite easily too lol) and they'll never be used (SMN).
So what's to happen to Omniyoji? I could sell him... I don't think he's worth much tho, and I also wouldn't want all that effort I put into him to just disappear into nothingness. I'll have to find someone interested in him that I can trust. Hashbrown if you're reading this, you interested? lol
As for the LJ, I won't be updating it anymore. This will be the final entry (for those of you that actually care...). However I'm still updating past entries from 2005-2010. I still also have to update that BLM Augments post and keep updating it from time to time if I see any good pics on the forums.
Another thing I actually wanted to do even tho it was quite silly was to actually get a book published on BLM'ing. Maybe I'll one day pursue it for the lulz. Just to be able to say I wrote a book on how to be a wizard heh.

I was also looking forward to creating a giant mosaic pic of an NM using snippets of my chat log I've been collecting reading out "Omniyoji defeated xxx" or just to make a giant "Wall-o-NMs" pic. Since I have tons of FFXI screen-shots, I've decided to make one of

I still remember the first day I played FFXI and how I was blown away by it (it was my first MMO >_> ). Well it was fun while it lasted. I'll never forget the wonderful memories and always cherish them. /farewell Vana'diel
