4th Year Anniversary
I can't believe it has been this long...
When I had initially purchased this game I had never thought about the amount of time I'd be putting into this game (probably cause FFXI was my first MMO and me originally treating this as any other ordinary game) but I now truly know what a MMORPG is all about...
time, devotion, and patience
Well for FFXI at least... can't speak for other MMOs.
Sure I still play other games from my "18 years of gaming" library from time to time... sure I do research or print out info for various games... sure I've had my share of extended periods of game play for that next world or badass cut scene... sure I've put up with immense difficulty and unforgiving gameplay (fuck you Super Ghouls'N Ghosts) but that amount of time, devotion, and patience is easily applied to a single NM in FFXI which is less than 1% of the game's content. The amount of content in this game and data collected for that content is remarkably awe-inspiring @_@
FFXI is my first MMO. The experiences have been wonderful. Thank you everyone at Square Enix who's had anything to do with FFXI! Thank you for making my first MMO experience unforgettable. It's been a great four years. Here's to hoping this year will be better than ever!
But Omniyoshi, you've only been playing for 188 days! Where are these four years you speak of? Yeah I know 188 days doesn't exactly equal four years (1,460 days) but that's the beauty of it. You've heard of people saying/posting FFXI is a horrible game, your favorite game to hate or people play FFXI for fun? I've come to learn the reason they feel this way is because they've sucked out all the life of the game. It's like the first time I was introduced to Counter-Strike way back then in Junior-high. I was having a blast and told my friend this game's great! My friend replied "s'ok"... :/ I had found out that the reason he said that was because he played the game way too much. He'd sucked out all the fun in the game from playing everyday for long periods of time. Taking a break can reopen all those old wonderful experiences again. I just recently came back from a 15 month break and found something as boring as fishing to be fucking awesome! Put the game down from time to time and you'll grow to appreciate all those marvelous little things again.
Anyways enough jibber-jabber, let's talk about FFXI stuff! Still can't believe those prices from back then, but it was definitely easier to make gil tho. Some of the items tho are total WTFs like the Igqira pieces and the staffs. Some of them are actually worth more now lol. In case some of you are wondering how I managed to memorize some of those figures, it's quite easy actually when you have to spend insane amounts early in the game (BLM first 75). That and I had old notes from when I used to compare AH prices ^^; Some of the items have stories behind them like penitent's rope for instance. I'm sure most of you still remember how much you've paid for your expensive gear back then.
... jeez how the economy has changed.
Since I didn't make some sort of goals list for this new year, I decided to incorporate it as my closure. The following list are my intentions for this year. Hopefully I accomplish them and more but will settle with at least finishing the expansion Chains of Promathia ^^
1. Cap Staff Skill
2. Join Dynamis Shell
3. Find people to do Windurst 5-1
4. Solo Windurst 5-2 to 9-2
5. Level up WHM (37) to 60
6. Obtain cute WHM AF *^-^*
7. Level up SMN (34) to 70-75
8. Find CoP static
9. After CoP level RDM (38) to 75
10.Complete more solos on BLM
11.Level other possible subs
12.Join Sea Shell
13.Finish 2006~2007 entries on this LJ
14.Obligatory Gear list
15.Make new admirable friends :)
