Undead Author Panels and Sparkly Vampires

Hi all. We had pizza at work today after a staff meeting, so everybody was being kind of stir-crazy for a little while afterward. We ended up talking about dead authors, which led to undead authors, which led to Twilight and sparkly vampires...I guess you had to be there. Anyway.

I think the other night really was the breakthrough in my writing. I've done something every night since, even if it was only 500 or 600 words. I have no idea what my word count is, though, because I've switched to longhand for a little bit. I have a horrible computer chair, and sitting in it for hours every night has started to destroy my back and shoulders. So I'm writing everything out longhand for a few days, and I'll type it up in bits and pieces this weekend. I just literally can't sit at the computer every night, especially since I do that a lot at work, all day. I won't have an accurate word count until this weekend, but I guess that's okay.

I have also been zapping through the first season of Supernatural. I'm on disk 5 now, I think? For awhile I was getting kind of bored, but then there was a little bit of a twist which seems like it's going to have a good payoff. I like it; it can definitely be pretty scary and fun, but it seems a bit unoriginal at times. I know there are X-Files producers and writers working on it, but the "monster-of-the-week" theme can be pretty formulaic on any show. I enjoy the dynamic between the two leads, but it's better when the father is with them, because I like the tension between the three characters. My favorite episode has been the one where they pretended to be priests--I actually wondered if the show might not be more interesting if they actually were two priests who went around battling the forces of evil instead of two emo brothers with father issues. Still, it's good fun. I've heard that the consequent seasons are better, as well, with more of an overall story arc. That's good.
